This is a great article. I'm not certain that he will fade. If he runs third party, then he really planned on a being a spoiler in the first place.
I watched a 1988 interview with Trump and Oprah. He had the same talking points he has today.

I honestly am amazed at how smart he was to threaten the possibility of running third party.
Consider that if it comes to a close choice between trump and any other republican that such a statement may garner him extra support just out of fear that he will defect to third party and ruin the other candidates chances if he doesn't get the nomination.
Definitely may cause some to give him the nod for the republican nomination in a close race. Possibly reasoning that it's better to have Trump than to have Trump run third party and have the Democrats win again.
And the thing is, everyone can believe trump would consider running third party if it came to that kind of a situation. Genius move on his part IMO.

I second this message! As Candidates start dropping out I look for more of their supporters to go to other candidates than to Trump.
The field is just too diluted with too many candidates to make anything out of Trump leading at the moment.

He's the only really interesting republican candidate at the moment IMO... that's for sure.

It was a smart move on his part. His reasoning is that it is "leverage" against the Establishment GOP, which no one trusts at all.
In essence, he is saying that if he is up and the polls and somehow the GOP knocks him down, he will run third party and win or make them lose. They aren't driving the election this time around.

Re: Trump 2016
Who do you think won the debate, PO? I read a CNN opinion piece which claimed Trump, Paul, Christie and Kasich were winners.

Trump and Cruz won the debate. Really, except for Jeb Bush, I liked them all and think that Carly will move into the top tier after her debate. They all made some good points on various issues.

I thought Cruz and Rubio were the best.

Yes, they were. Did you notice they didn't ask Cruz one question for 40 minutes?
Did Cruz Trump Trump?
But there is one lingering question from last night’s fiasco that will likely portend a possible change in the dynamic of the race – the emergence of Ted Cruz as the man to replace Donald Trump as the candidate with the ability to tap into the anger, disquiet, and desperate hopes of the GOP base. While most of the candidates seem to have solid moments and heartfelt convictions on an issue here or there, one man always stands out as having the full passion, depth of knowledge, resoluteness, fighting spirit, and inviolable record on almost every issue of our time.
That man is Senator Ted Cruz.

Re: Trump 2016
I did. I didn't like the format. They had a long stretch of time where it was only a few candidates talking.

So Walker and Bush got the most questions. That allows you to know where Fox is going with this.
My issue with Walker and Bush is that they criticized Ted Cruz for the Obamacare filibuster, fear mongering that we would lose big in 2014. Cruz said we would win big if we fought for what we promised - a repeal. Rand Paul also left Cruz and Mike Lee on the Senate floor. He lost my support that day.
Cruz's prediction was right - if you stand on principle, you will win - and we did win. I want principle and I want courageous. That is Ted Cruz.
