As for some of us blacks being called African.....my husband is black and he will correct that real quick......only bc he says he is not from Africa and none of his family was either. My son goes by black and my daughter , the same. My daughter looks of the lighter skin (high yellow) and my son Mocha skin. I do not have any white in my family outside of my son-in-law and the new baby due in Oct. I feel you should be able to attend any school of your choice no matter your ethnicity!!!! Everything should be equal bc in Gods eyes it is!!!
I love your spirit!

My reason for starting this thread is because there seems to be a deep divide in America OVER THE GROUND RULES for discussing race. To me, this is like sitting down with a neighbor over a land dispute, and being told that for him to even consider a compromise, I must first agree that it must end in his favor!

I totally understand that there were racial injustices in the past and even some today. Although, I believe it is more of a social class injustice than a racial injustice these days. The wealthy have money to buy the best defense, while the poor rely on a public defender that just wants the case to go away.

BTW, I attend a church with a black senior pastor! Our church is probably 60% black and 40% white.

Are you stating that Christians should never discuss race, but sweep it under the rug? BTW, I would state the same thing if I were part of a live discussion group. I asked the question, "Am I wrong?". I truly want to understand how I'm mis-reading the above article.

I agree, however, back in the day that was not the case. Thus the institution of Black universities, and the reason for my post.

I am not from that time era THANK GOD, but I would like to ask WHY????? Why was / is skin color so "intimidating" to some (not all) white people? Don't get me wrong, there are some of my black relatives who are what I would call racist in some ways...and there are many blacks who are still hanging on to racism in many ways, but to have schools (or anything else) who are for a certain "color" ???? How sad!!! I seen a movie called Mississippi Burning one day back a few years ago and I cried. I can not fathom being back in that time era and seeing my dad or family being hung....or home being burned, having my mother or Auntie giving her seat up to a white person and being called **** I have been called half breed, **** lover, Nazi **** .... the list goes on. Yes it was mostly by white people when we moved to the US.....but I am me and I love who I am and where I come from. I am very proud of my heritage and my backgroundS and I embrace each one. But racism is a very real and active thing that is still happening in many places and it makes me angry and yet very sad!!!
