Re: Local Baptist Pastor falls

From their own website saga section:
The irreverent sense of humor started with the creative menu saga written by Ken. It combined nicely with the most important element, the beautiful and vivacious Hooters Girls.

From wikipedia:
Hooters is a restaurant whose..waiting staff..are primarily young, attractive waitresses usually referred to simply as "Hooter Girls" whose revealing outfits and..sex appeal..is played up and is a primary component of the company's image.

This is not a family restaurant and is definitely not a place for Christians.

Re: Local Baptist Pastor falls

Having nothing to go on except what was initially posted on the subject; I can't help but see a case of two extremes. One is the extreme of the former pastor who messed up....then the over correction trying to be made by the elder in emphasizing dress and outward appearance.

On the surface it seems that the elder is harping on waht he percieves as a problem and quite possibly the root cause of the pastors mistake...that is a rookie move, regardless of his age or tenure...if that is the case.

You can't "punish" the people for the the conduct of one individual. Holiness is a heart issue, not a pants, hair, make-up, shorts, or mixed bathing issue. It is ridiculous to think any man can legislate Holiness and make some sort of checklist and then claim principle.

Modesty is a principle, dictated by the move of the Spirit in a persons life, and reagrdless of argument, it is heavily influenced by culture. Motive and intent - jumping from one extreme to another is not the answer. If anything, these people need healing, not a super preacher...

So, if a woman wears pants instead of a skirt or dress it means what? How is she going to behave any differently?

It is basically a TGIFriday's, except with their signature "Hooters Girls" as waitresses. We have one just a few blocks from our house but we have yet to go since Fridays is right next door and PF Changs is on the other side.

Kind of brings me to this thought. I didn't hear anyone upset enough to leave when the sin was announced but now that this type of preaching is coming forth the talk has turned to such.

good point.

Hooters isn't as horrific as some people make it sound. The girls are not that hot, but that may be determined by geographical location.

That is funny!

So, if you were to go to an all-you-can-eat place and there was a group of "young, attractive" women there would you leave or would you be craving the General Tso's Chicken so bad you would stay?

Christians should go everywhere and do everything too! How can one be the light of the world if the are constantly never turned on...ummmm not mean sexually.

But seriously... I understand if YOU may not want to go there or feel comfortable there. But making broad-brush-statements like yours above is nuts.

Wings anyone?
