I hate tatoos and all of my kids knew that would never happen as long as they were in my house and minors.

Only one of my three was that nonconformist. My Marine son has two or three big ugly tatoos that distress me greatly but he got them after he was grown and out of the house so I cannot do anything about it.

I hate to see them though. I could have accepted some small USMC tatoo but these are big giant ones. One is a Texas Longhorn skull. Very disgusting. One of my biggest disappointments is that I raised a child who thought this was a good idea.

Just the other day a child asked me what God thought about tatoos. I told her very little. God doesn't seem to care either way. (Assuming one hasn't gone completely haywire with them and looks like a freak or prison gang member).

HOWEVER, I went on to remind her that tatoos are permanent (unless pain is involved) and why would anyone want to wear the same outfit or mark every day?

I have explained to my son in the past that tatoos are similar to marriage in that they are a permanent choice; BUT they aren't as flexible as marriage because tatoos can't grow with you.

How could anyone know with certainty, at the age of 25 or even 30, how they want to be identified the rest of their lives? (Thankfully, Sheri's kids' tatoos are ones that will forever be etched into their hearts too but that isn't always so).

I have further noted that a cute little dophin can turn into a whale as one ages and loose much of its original appeal.

So no; I don't think one or two "clean" tatoos are a sin, but certainly a choice I would encourage young people to avoid.

But overall Sherri; I wouldn't lose sleep over what your kids did. In fact, on some level, I would find their commitment to Christ etched forever on their skin to be a pretty strong statement at this point in their lives and at least feel good about their choice of identity.

And that's my take~

HAHA very funny BOOMM! As I told Berk the other night, my town has one traffic light, one restaurant, not EVEN big enough for a McDonalds or a Wal-Mart, and our claim to fame is a dead sheriff who is a legend in his own right. Ever heard of Walking Tall?
