Jakes gave a great definition of our inability to explain God, yet all the others wanted was to hear him confirm what they believe, so they could claim him. Reminds me of my own attitude in the past, only from the other side of the fence.

there is no single definition of "trinity" just like there is no single definition of "oneness."
just look at the way we "oneness" folks argue amongst ourselves and put one another down.

Re: It's official, T.D. Jakes is Trinitarian
my attitude:
trinity schminity
a bunch of godhead gobbledy gook
those Baptists trying to put words into T.D. Jakes mouth so they can say he agrees with them is just like us OP's hearing a trinitarian preach and say, "He's preaching oneness."

the difference today is defining the term person. i believe many today define the word person differently than what tertullian defined it as. One God 3 masks e different roles

This is the crux of the matter...too often we point fingers (currently at Bishop Jakes) but don't know what we're pointing fingers at...only that it's different than what we believe. The revelation of Who God is only comes when the Father reveals it...and only then if we desire to know His Truth.
I heard an excellent message about baptism in Jesus name from a "trinitarian" preacher using Matthew 28:18 and Acts 2:36 as his foundational scriptures.

Re: It's official, T.D. Jakes is Trinitarian
There is many different views of the Godhead, and not just oneness or trinitarian, Yet God works with them all. I believe as Paul stated we see this world as looking through a darkened glass. Our vision is muffled, but one day all will be revealed.
so while i believe we have sufficent truth for salvation. revelation describes Hidden mana. My mind wonders what that is..

Re: It's official, T.D. Jakes is Trinitarian
Jakes hasn't been oneness (as most oneness pentecostals understand the Godhead) for quite some time now. Below I post a link to a Christianity Today article written by T.D. Jakes in February 2000.

God is God...no matter how people try to explain Him. Just believe Him and perhaps He will clarify when we meet Him.
