I believe in faith and repentance. But from my own experiences I know that faith and repentance is an act toward God through acknowledging that jesus is lord and rose from the dead.
When I attended a Baptist Church organization and heard the bible preached I repented and God took away that burden of sin and I felt the change in me which was something I never felt before and I knew it was real.
Growing up as a Catholic boy I had never experienced this.
However, it was later when I learned about the infilling of the Holy Ghost and the evidence of speaking in another tongue, which ability was given by the Holy Ghost, that I actually received it.
This was not in a church and was not prompted by a group of people and at the time I was very unlearned in the scriptures.
It made a big difference in my life and it gave me a deeper understanding in the things of God, and it also increased my faith.
It wasn't until years later would I run into trouble with those who would try and discredit this experience.
As i studied their lives and how they reacted to the things of God and as I watched for the power of God in their lives I only saw a profession and no action or manifestation of the power of God that was able to deliver those others who were in great need in their lives.
Salvation and receiving the Holy Ghost are two separate gifts of God whether people want to believe in a second work of grace or not. I personally don't see the work of the grace of God ever stopping in my life and I'm thankful for it that it keeps going on and it keeps increasing as it goes, and I keep receiving more and more from Jesus by his spirit and through his spirit.

If you were filled with the Holy Ghost and had no initial evidence of it - you could lose it and never really know you had it!
Being Filled with the Holy Ghost is a Supernatural Gift that has a natural evidence - to show that you received the Gift! If someone gives me a gift, I want the evidence of it!

Yup, that was a good post. Some are given to speak in tongues, and some to interpret, and some to...I think is a point that gets forgotten; gifts simply are not distributed according to human desire. The Bible is quite plain there.

To initiate any negativity in the process, ie "your way is wrong," is to entirely miss the point.

I received the HG as a child and spoke in tongues having never heard about it before.

I've seen 100s of people, maybe thousands, filled the same way.

From a guy who used to be Oneness, Apostolics misinterpret the Bible when they preach a doctrine that is perceived as one cannot and will not be saved UNTIL they speak in tongues.

That doctrine of the 20 and 21st century Apostolic denomination is simply wrong, a distortion of Biblical truth.

It is very easy to manipulate people into a legalistic christianity, when their faith is based on a legalistic distortion of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

One thing we are missing. The early assembly of people at Jerusalem was the corner stone to the future of the house of God in the earth. If it began as such with such experiences then it should have been continued onward in the same experience with nothing wavering. I believe the last time I read the Book of Acts it clearly stated; and they [believers] continued in the apostles doctrine, and God add to the church as many as should be saved. And many miracles were done by the apostles./ Now it was not just the 11 apostles that walked with jesus, Stephen whom they stoned was also a worker of miracles as well.
Now, go back to the beginning and listen to what our Lord jesus is saying in Chapter one.
Tarry in jerusalem until you be endowed with power from on high. Why? they were already saved by faith all 120 of them. They had all been washed by the blood on the altar in heaven. They all had the nature and will of God in their lives, they were singing, praising and all of them were in one accord, [ maybe they should not have gotten the spirit if they were getting along that well, later that was not the way it was!] and that is the way they were when the Holy Ghost descended on them.

That we might be exactly like he was here on the earth and continue His ministry in the same manner and with the same power.It was also given that we might have power over the devil and that world, that we might have revelation into the truths of the the Lord and his spiritual kingdom, Go back and read John's Gospel, Jesus tells what the Holy Ghost will do in the once it is in the believer.
The Holy Ghost is a personal gift of God for perfect fellowship and power. It's for us so we can be victorious in this life. Salvation as Paul said, came by the blood of Jesus through faith and through the will of Jesus himself.

In this present evil world where the demonic forces both spiritual and fleshly have reproduced and deceived everything, yes I too what evidence,
In the early church being faced with everything they were faced with, as well as false christians claiming to be followers of Jesus, yes the apostles wanted evidence and in that doctrine then the proof as Peter stated, was, speaking in another tongue praising God as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance.
