I have been in Apostolic Pentacost for 40 years. I have never seen anybody recieve the Holy Ghost without speaking in tounges.One of the Gifts of the spirit is the Gift of Tounges should it not seem logical for some one to be used in this gift they would have to speak in tounges. Acts 2 Acts10 Acts 19. I am simply amazed on this Apostolic Website they are people who don"t believe in the simpliest Apostloic doctrines.

But what purpose does it serve!?

Edifies oneself in the Spirit.

Is for prayer, too.

1 Corinthians 14:14 KJV (14) For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, ...

I also think it is literally God speaking through us with His word! He SHARES his word with us in this deep manner of speaking it through us! I also think there is something there about God creating with His Word. We are new creations in Spirit new birth, and God actually is sorta saying, "Let there be..." through our very mouths!
