I honestly hadn't thought that until the Argentina thing came up today. Also his wife was beginning to get a very defensive tone and saying things like, "I'm being a mother to our boys" and things like that.
Obviously, any extra-marital affair is a sad situation and I feel bad for his wife and sons. None of us are beyond sinning and hopefully the Gov. can be restored spiritually and relationaly with his family.
The bigger issue to me is the fact that he basically left the state of South Carolina without an executive figure for the last 4 or 5 days. That's unconscionable and will probably be his undoing.
Does someone who leaves the country to see his mistres and doesn't notify anyone of his whereabouts in case of a terrorist attack or other state emergency deserve to be Gov.? I don't see any way that he remains Govenor, not based on the affair, but on his irresponsiblity with his duties.

The affair isn't the thing to resign over ... as cras as it seems, the larger issue here (with respect to his political office) is his irresponsibility. Leaving the country without notifying the next in command is enough for the resignation.
This is getting more interesting. From what I heard, Politico will break a story in the next 24 hours that claims Sanford used State tax dollars to go on his "trips" to Argentina. Would that not be the height of irony?
I mean he's spent the last 5 months holding one of those Tea parties and fighting President Obama's stimulus package because he's a "fiscal conservative" to the core and he just can't sleep at night over the misuse of tax payer dollars right? Except of course it's to purchase a pricey ticket to see a sweet lil thing in Argentina?
If that's the case, wow. Just wow...
