He did promise us he would lead & guide us into all truth didn't he? And, in his time and by his wisdom, he continues to show us his nature. Thank God for having such patience with us and being so faithful to show us his nature so we can, in turn, live it day by day.
Actually, He didn't promise to "lead us and guide us".

I find it very interesting that this verse ends an entire run of scriptures about how when I try to do good evil is with me and what I want to do I cannot...
And the very next scripture is...
Rom 8:1 [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Mortification of the flesh ain't an easy thang.

Indeed... and that's the important thing to realize.
And it is Paul's point, I think. What is hard is realizing walking after the flesh is incorrect, since "walking after the flesh" means trying in self effort. Many simply do not know there is any other way to deal with this. They assume they knew all there is to know about how to deal with mortification, and since they failed they assume one cannot succeed, and that it is hard to do so. When in reality they never stopped to think they may simply not be aware of the way to deal with moritification.

In this case, I don't think so. But quite often, an added or removed word or letter can significatly alter the intent of the scripture, which is why, to the best of my ability, I attempt to use exact quotes.
Another scripture comes to mind that is often mis-quoted in sermons and songs, is the ones referring to the "street(s) of gold. It aint there. A simple single letter "s" changes the Word.

I see, thanks. But it didn't look like he was quoting, but paraphrasing, and the paraphrase seems (to me) correct. But I get your point.
