I am also very, very tired of her trotting out the fact that her kid is going off to war as some sort of personal trophy. This type of "vicarious" patriotism is sickening, and borders on child abuse.

Isn't this her first prime time interview? That might explain the lack of smoothness. She's been a target by the liberal media all week perhaps she was just used to being on the defense.
Haven't seen it yet, because I am on the left coast.

Again, I will vote McCain/Palin but this is no excuse ladies.
Palin, as VP, will be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Well, from a mother's perspective, it looks more like she's just proud of her son. Lot's of parents "trot out" their kids' accomplishments on a regular basis. I don't call that "abuse." I agree, she's making a political point, but I wouldn't say it's abusive to call attention to it.

She has to be ready 'already.'
Well the issue of her foreign policy experience brought up by Neil Cavuto at the RNC while he was interviewing Kissinger--Kissinger's reply was, that Truman also lacked Foreign policy experience but once he was in office he gained the experience.
Is this a good excuse, no.
But I will take her experience as governor and mayor over Obama's in committee organizing.

It's hypocritical.
We're told to "leave her family alone" and then she consistently brings her sons enlistment into every interview and speech.

Weren't you one of those people saying HER KIDS ARE OFF LIMITS?????? Is it ok for her to use them but God help if her opponent say one word about them.

First of all, when ANYONE says "kids are off limits", it OBVIOUSLY means when they are attacked or given negative press. Secondly, I wasn't the one who said that, but I do agree with the sentiment. And generally speaking, I would agree that using your children to make any political point is a bad idea.
I'm just pointing out my perspective as a mother, and what I think her motivation is. I didn't say I agreed with her, even if that was her motivation.

Wow. Let's just cut straight through all the fluff and get right down the point of the matter. I agree it either needs to be one way or the other and not both.
To be honest, I don't like the fact that they did this interview on 9/11. Why of all dates, was 9/11 picked to conduct her first interview? I think it was a bad choice and hints at politicizing something that doesn't need to be politicized.

My opinions have been consistent throughout this election and what bits I have seen and read tonight have done nothing to change them. I thought that by nominating Obama, the Democrats did the one thing that made a defeat possible. I also thought that the selection of Palin was a colossal tactical error for many reasons. The hardliners on either side are in love with the choices, but they don't make sense to me. Neither one of them strikes me as the brilliant person or orator that their devoted followers seem to think they are.
