I also have such a little bit to mow that a rider is not worth the gas to start it up. Of course, I have a son that needs to build his muscles up, so he has been elected to be my lawn guy.
I have joked with him about getting a big huge 60 inch cut mower so he can just start it, drive to the other end of the yard, and turn it off. hehehe!
I had a lawn boy too...until he got a summer job!!!
I have a self-propelled walk behind, but am really considering a riding mower. My yard is a big headache, but I just built a gate in my back onto the bayou behind my house and I will probably start cutting the grass behind my property...... ("Probably" being the most important word of this post)

Our lawn is 'mostly' brown. Day after day of 100+ days will do that. Even with built in twice-daily sprinklers!
