Re: Tulsa Tango????

9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the church to pray; the one a WPF minister, and the other a Charismatic.
11The WPF minister stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this Charismatic.
12 I fast twice in the week in between gluttonous meals after church, I give tithes of all that I possess and they are meticulously paid on the gross amount. I have no facial hair. I have no body piercings. My hair does not touch my ears nor my collar. I do not use alcohol, nicotine nor caffeine in any way. I do not watch television programs unless it is in a hotel room or unless the program is viewable on my computer. I do not display my body by wearing short sleeves, short pants or sandals. I do not play golf or any other ungodly sports. I wear no ornaments nor jewelry except this cloth necklace. And with many other words did he remind God of his life of personal holiness until God's ear became weary of his self-righteous drivel.
13 And the Charismatic, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

I'm sure that this won't generate any responses

Well. I'm WPF (AMF leanings) and love my cafeinated Mt. Dew. I do play sports. I don't drivel and I reailize that only by the Grace of God will I be saved. Br. Sam, Have you ever heard Brother Johnny Godair or Larry Booker preach and teach? May I ask who your Elders are? God bless.

Wonderful! Great post, Bro. Sam!

When we judge our holiness only by our dress and what we avoid, we have left the principles of Biblical holiness.

Bro. Rutledge, you have to admit, in 99.5% of conservative churches, you do not hear a tenth of inward holiness (repentance) as you do on standards. This does not make one holiness, when the outside of the cup is clean, but the inside is corrupt. It makes them lost because there is no repentance.

Re: Tulsa Tango????

Where do y'all go to church? Seriously, I admit I have been away from the church for a while but I am beginning to believe there are gross exaggerations and just plain idiocy among people. You know I don't think I would ever want to go to a church that y'all go to Brothers because apparently y'all are just too high and mighty in your self righteousness. Y'all might not follow the "standards" but you follow a standard of hypocrisy. Judgemental attitudes you say you are against but almost at any given moment y'all are spouting venom against your "supposed" brothers. Talk about getting your hearts right before you mouth off about someone else's.
And yeah, I am out of here.

Not quite sure what you mean by "supposed" brothers. I think the Bible pretty clearly shows that by our first birth we are born into a family of rebels against God and therefore a second birth is necessary to become a child of God and part of God's family. Jesus taught about an experience called regeneration or being born again in John chapter 3:1-21. He taught that we are born into God's family when we believe in Him. The Apostle John also spoke of this "born again" experience in 1 John 5:1 where he said, "If you believe that Jesus is the Christ --that he is God's Son and your Savior-- then you are a child of God. And all who love the Father love his children too."

Br. Price, I agree with you, one is not holy if the outside is clean and inside is corrupt. I do understand where your coming from. It seems, sometimes, that people expect people to look and act like a 20 yr. saint in 6 weeks. As far as the percentage of 99.5.. I don't want to condescending but there are a lot of "conservative" Churches, and there is no way you know the content of there character in 99.5% of them. God will judge us by whats IN our heart. We may be able to dress "right".. and still have junk in our heart... but.. whats IN the heart shows up on the outside. And as Apostolics we are to teach Holiness on the inside and outside. Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. We must look like a seperated people, to assist us in winning people to the Lord. Lets not lose our identity.God bless.
