Bro. Scott,

You have said a mouthful here! This is why Many Apostolic leadership do not want their people educated! They might challenge the ministry to study, dig out more Biblical truths, and change man's traditions!

Blessings, Rhoni

2Ti 3:14 But continue in the things that you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,

Act 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the Scriptures,

Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Act 18:24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.

It does not hurt the church to be strong in WORD just as we should be in Prayer

Act 6:3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Act 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
I was going to reply to two posts previous to this one, but this says it all...you go Prax!

Blessings, Rhoni

I leave you with this from the late Verbal Bean. Take it or leave it.
I can't think of any instructions from the Bible against seeking to know God through his word except:

Ec 12:12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

Jesus said learn of me and Paul said let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.

I'm not sure what Verbal Bean meant by polished and intellectual powers of men unless he was referring to 2 Tim 3:1-7..ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth or perhaps 1Co 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:. What do you think he meant in that quote?

One should be getting these principles in their churches!

Agreed.

The only issue I have with all of this is when people try to bring worldly "wisdom" (philosophies) and try to Christianize them or bring them into the Church. There's nothing wrong with getting an education, there's nothing wrong with getting professional vocational training (though there is a certain worldly philosophy that I will never consider a "profession"). I'd even go so far as to suggest that post-secondary education should be encouraged (after every able-bodied kid fresh out of high school does at least six years in the military). Of course, all that education and a couple of dollars might get us a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Most churches I have been in spends HOURS of having Bible Study.

Just because they do not have a diploma from a university that thinks homosexuality is normal, that ethics are situational, that there are NO absolutes.
