So if a young person starts a business and makes it to the top, do they love the world? If a young man or lady is voted to city government or they grow up to become a state or national leader, do they love the world? How about if someone becomes a CEO, or a company president, or a school principal or superintendent? Why is it this young lady loves the world in the sense she becomes the enemy of God simply because she excels in the arts? This makes no sense to me.

All I have to say, is what happened to teaching separation from the world? Avoiding worldliness? If we are supposed to be the counter-culture, then this is really sad. I'm not referring to this girl specifically, but the mindset in general.

I was traveling last week, and our family stopped at a rest stop along the interstate. A man asked me if I was going to Youth Congress, as he saw my long skirt and hair, and my daughter's long skirt and hair. After he said that, I looked around and noticed young ladies everywhere, with sort-of long hair, and skirts that *just* made it to the knees. Not what myself or daughter would wear. Until he had said something, I never noticed any "modest, Apostolic-looking people." After he said something, I had to look for them.

So how can you tell an Apostolic young man from the crowd? Why is the burden of outward proof that we are Apostolic on the young ladies and women? Its not enough for long hair on women, not enough for skirts to the knees (just to the knees), they ALL have to look like you and your daughter. Here is a guy trying to be friendly and cordial and all that was going on in your mind was how they measured up to your standards.

Why would we want to hide under a bushel and try to blend in with the world?

It just seems like people want to have their cake and eat it too.

Maybe its not people trying to blend in with the world. Maybe they feel their modesty, although not up to your standards, is modest and they are comfortable with it.

2. Choreographed Step Dancing debuts at an endorsed event.

3. Gaddy pleads to his listeners in his last message that they too "step out of the box".

Everyone's minds are made up on the TV resolution ... as is Gaddy's ... who is stepping away ...

I don't doubt his passion is youth or that he sought to inspire and impact their lives in a memorable way when he made the executive decisions in organizing this event.

Yet, anyone can tell you ... including as Sherri stated above. This is not your Mama's UPCI. There are some mixed messages that are new to some in the fellowship. We would be remissed to think that TG did not know that controversy would rear its head after this YC.

He has played a role in organizing these events before... Dozens of ideas are tossed about in brainstorming sessions ... but often are decided against due to perceived notions of impropriety or fear of political fallout.

Gaddy has an agenda here. It's clear. As part of his legacy he has set precedent in the policy decision making process of at least the department he is involved in ... His vision for the future of the fellowship does not match those who will be voting no in September. This was Gaddy's exclamation point.

I'm not saying they cant wear what those things....

I'm just shocked that a UPC event endorsed her so openly and any teenager who googles her name now can say "oh wow - so I can wear what I want when I want - well, just not to church of course"

the problem is, the relationship part is left out - its all about what is going to "get them" - sure they need to be "got" to a certian extent...

but teach them how to GET IT FOR THEMSELVES and not harp on them for silly things - teach them relationship with God so when they are at school or away from the church - they can maintain their walk with God

Seems to me like we are trying to entertain them - to compete with other venues for their attention...

we arent focused on giving them what they need to survive.

Cram standards down their throats, entertain the heck out of them with sticks and flags....

but dont teach them about who, why, where, when and what....
