Re: Social drinking?
Sean, we all agree that drunkeness is a sin, but what you fail to see is that a drink of wine does not make one drunk(unless you're like 3' tall and under the age of 8 )

Probably Timothy fasted often and avoided drinking anything other than water and he became ill
BTW you tell me to keep that in mind but I have told you that several times before. That was my argument

Do you honestly think alcohol(rotted grapes) were going to help Timothy's stomach problems? Prax, have you tried drinking booze with stomach problems? I have...not nice..LOL

Are you even reading what I've said? You have been doing that for some time now...you are not reading
I said the water has pathogens in it. They put wine in the water to KILL the pathogens
It's the Pathogens that made Timothy sick...
I have said that several times now over the course of this discussion
The alcohol in the wine KILLS the sick bugs that make the tummy feel bad..ok?

Brother, I am saying this right here and now...ANYTHING that makes you incoherent, even in the slightest way, opens you up to evil spirits. The more incoherent you are, the more the evil spirits have their way with us!

Re: Social drinking?
BTW Sean, did you notice Paul said a LITTLE wine?
Stop drinking water and just drink a little grape juice. Timothy will be dead in a few days if that's all he got.
Do you understand yet that grape juice goes bad fast especially in that area unless refrigerated?
He doesn't get it guys

1Ti 5:23 (No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.)
I read how it was common for people to do that back then to KILL the pathogens in the water
I read Paul say "Drink not water ONLY, but use a little wine"
I read how the only way to preserve Grape juice was fermentation
I read how they had no refrigeration nor Pasteurization process
I read how the word "wine" refers to a fermented beverage made from Grapes
And I posted what Ive read here for you to read too.
Did you read them? Did you read those verses I posted?

Most people are still coherent after one or two drinks. It's when someone drinks in excess that they become incoherent.
And by the way, being incoherent or losing self-control because of over drinking is exactly that... LACK OF SELF-CONTROL. Ones natural man will be exposed for what weaknesses it has, but you implied that someone who has had "one too many" will become demon possessed. Are you afraid that if you used actual wine (the fermented stuff with alcohol in it) for communion, you'd have "evil spirits having their way with you?"
