The political lies from both sides blow through the networks like the tumultuous winds of a hurricane. And the violence... it's worse and more pervasive than the sexualization. It is also a great thief of time. Time that could be spent not only in prayer and meditation, but time that could be spent bonding as a family.

We have an old GoogleTV and use the Amazon Fire TV box for streaming apps. We have Amazon Prime membership which includes the Prime streaming video membership. Along with that, we've had Netflix for years and Hulu. I have updated Netflix to cancel after this month, and intend to do the same with Hulu after this month.
I'm finding that the older I get, the more I'm going back to my roots and the conservative way I was brought up. If I were able, I would get rid of the internet, TV and streaming services today. I am taking steps and have been doing all I can to wean the kids off YouTube, Netflix and Hulu.
I allowed my daughter to have my old Amazon Fire Tablet. I have parental controls enabled, along with active monitoring so I can see everything she does. Every app she opens, every game played, etc. The Amazon store and internet are blocked so she cannot access them. She has access to Netflix and Hulu, but not to YouTube.
TV is a massive waste of time. Years ago, I went on a media fast. This was before streaming services. No DVDs from Blockbuster or the Christian bookstore. No cable, no antennae TV. During the first two weeks of the fast, I purchased a cheap electric guitar and learned to play an entire song set (5 or 6 songs) for an upcoming youth service. Shocked everyone when I walked up with the guitar and started playing the songs. (Mind you, it was basic power chords, no riffs or solos) I also was reading a lot and had a lot of time to study. (This was also before marriage and three kids. I kind of miss those days!

Not only is it a waste of time, but it's not cheap. Every month I tell myself I'm going to cancel it all. It's ridiculous.
