funny, i share your vision, but i'm not sure that we are going to that place around a campfire. I used to think so...i even work with people seeking that end, but honestly i have come to see it as teaching people how to rely on themselves rather than God, in a sense anyway.
As for not understanding history or society, i think the argument might be made that these are observations of the seen, and religion is right in there with them. We even have cliches that reflect dichotomy in them; "history is written by the victors," and who needs a cliche to connect society with the world?

But we have different definitions of religion; i have made mine plain, but i do not know what yours is?
