The thing is, RD, that we all agree that abortion is a sin. I have yet to see anyone say it isn't. Where we differ is in whether we think the government should have the right to stop a woman from committing this sin. I don't think it should; you think it should. Instead of debating the merits of those two positions, those of us on the pro-choice side are constantly having to fight off attacks on our Christianity. It happens every time the issue of abortion comes up.
If it's a life then it is no different than the government telling you you can't kill your 5 year old. The burden of proof should be on the one who wants to abort the child, that it is not a life and not worthy of protection under our laws.

You, Ferd, and DT. You're saying that being Pro-Choice is being Pro-Abortion....that's like saying that if you believe in Gun Rights you must be Pro-School Shooting. Don't you see how illogical and down right stupid your your logic is?
You sir put words into my mouth that I have never said. I believe I have biblical backing for the positions I take ,which by the way, you have refused to deal with. I believe that Scripture dictates certain boundaries for civil government and family.

Ferd, I think the biggest contributing factor is that we no longer have people looking out for what's in the best interest of the American people. There is a lack of accountability that I have been alluding to because politicians can just hide behind a handful of hot-button talking points and guarantee support and electability. In the meantime lobbyists (with both foreign and domestic allegiances) do what is in the best interest of their bottom line or their country. How does Halliburton moving it's corporate office to Saudi Arabia affect that corporate tax rate? And then how do they continue to get such a lion's share of our federal contracts?
I bet you will agree with me on this.
I just had this conversation with a fellow republican today.
I would like to see all 535 congressmen tossed out on thier boney heads!
That is right, every last one. I would even accept a new dem replace each dem and a new republican replace each republican.
and I am serious about that.

I'm not saying that Gov't is incapable of dealing with the issue. I'm saying that Republican politicians have been unwilling to actually deal with the situation...especially in the light of the fact that they don't really have to. All they have to do is profess a position.
They are unwilling because as the government they are incapable of do anything about it.
For example...let's say we get abortion banned tomorrow...how does the government police it and how does the government punish violators? Be realistic in your consideration.
It doesn't have to be "national health care" or "national health insurance". I want affordable health care. The Democrats have a plan that will mediate cost on the private market. And under the Democratic plan the aspects that are nationalized are privately managed.
What plan is that?

That is true, and the law backs them to do so and encourages them to do so via Planned Parenthood.

I have concerns here also, and this is due to BOTH parties!

I have NEVER heard of such. Give me example of that happen!

Not even the same thing! No more than saying it is legal to drink and not punish the drunk driver. Not the same!

Again I agree we have too many jobs going over seas AND too many foreign companies buying up our valued companies.

if you want to go down that road, the government isnt qualifed to make any decision related to medicine.
so what you are telling me is you opposed nationalized healthcare....right?
I'll make a deal with you....I'll concede that perhaps the Government isn't capable of managing health care or health insurance (because hey, maybe they can’t) if you will acknowledge that the Government is also incapable of adequately addressing abortion.

ahh, but here is the difference school shooting illegal. we want laws that stop that.
abortiong is legal, you want no laws that stop that...
being pro choice means you support candiates that support a womans right to choose up to and including the 9th month of pregnance for any or no reason what so ever.
I support the right of law abiding citizens protecting the innocent....
these are vastly different. If you can't see that, as I have said, that is your issue. NOT MINE.

now we are getting somewhere!

My whole point is about accountability and how a democracy cannot work without it. If we provide politicians a talking point to hide behind (especially one that requires no specified action), they will jump at the opportunity.
