Re: Obama's "Not Exactly's"
I don't know man, there are A LOT of uninsured AMERICAN citizens, who work hard, have families and thank God that they or their children don't get too sick-- or else they would be in a terrible fix. Even when I look at myself, my job offers some health program that would take about a quarter of my pay check, every pay check, for the premium. I can't afford that! If it wasn't for my VA benefits, I'd be in a terrible fix!
I never hear about people dying (in other modernized countries) these tragic deaths that many Americans die simply because they didn't have enough money to live.
HOW MESSED DOES THAT READ TO YOU-- Mrs. Wilson died because she didn't have enough money to live!

The WIC program and the food stamps program are completely different programs, so I doubt she was there picking up food stamps. They aren't even stamps anymore. Most states have gone to a card system. WIC is a program that pays for milk, cheese, juice, and some cereals, along with formula, for children 5 and under. For all you know, the Jag lady could have been picking up the vouchers for a family member.

Yes, programs are needed, but there are needless strains on those programs. If only those who were truly incapable of providing the basics for themselves, and if, as you said, the priorities of all involved were in correct order, the programs already established would be far more reaching.

I don't doubt for minute that there are people taking advantage of the system. Are we supposed to punish everyone now because of that?

How about all these seniors who have to choose between their medications and food every month? That is a national embarrassment and should NOT be happening in this country. These folks spent all their working years paying into the system and now they get left high and dry in their senior years. It's wrong and shouldn't be happening.

Absolutely not. Instead, better help those truly in need through better maintenance and monitoring of the existing programs.
Which makes more sense? Better maintaining and monitoring the already established systems or creating additional systems which would create even more dependency and even more opportunity for abuse and waste of taxpayer monies?
Wouldn't the wisest and least costly thing to do be to make the already established more efficient through better maintenance and/or monitoring?
I really have a hard time grasping why so many are interested in a socialistic answer to problems in the USA when socialism has failed so miserably all around the world (e.g., Cuba, Eastern Europe, the USSR and China).
Why follow the lead of those who have failed? Is the purpose to tear down this great nation in order to make us more equally impoverished as those around us in the worldwide 'brotherhood' just so we can become more 'palatable' to them? Must we become less in order to be greater in the eyes of the world? Must we become less in order to help the rest of the world feel better about themselves? Will our downfall help them to feel better about their own failures?
Lessen our greatness and you take away the friend who has stepped in more charitably than any other in the history of mankind.
I don't think socializing America is in the best interest of this nation. I don't think socializing America is in the best interest of this world. Any candidate geared toward socialistic policies should be ignored.
