No...pastor did not get them pregnant. Even in the best of households, sometimes the children disobey the spiritual authority of her parents, especially of her father...and for those who give up their spiritual authority to the pastor, the children sometimes disregards even that and finds herself in trouble with her dating practices...

We can only pray for them after they become of age and they leave home.

I think we've all seen some form of answer to that....both good and slothful...
To run with this subject a bit......

So this 25 year old single woman, who grew up without a father, must submit to whatever man comes around and claims power over her in the name of her (biological, but absent) father? I am sure there are some guys who would salivate over the idea (both dirty old men and some UC pastors), but I find the concept creepy myself.

I agree.

Hey, Randy don't compare dirty old men to pastors, will you?

34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.
1 Cor 7:34-35 (KJV)

I don't think it's a question of who the woman's head is, but rather where her focus is.

If her focus is on Christ, then 1 Corinthians 11 is explicit on who her head is.
Her head is wise enough to know that his wife is spiritually by his side, not spiritually beneath him.

Most of this dialogue is merely some people wanting to try to establish whose fleshly authority people are under.

Some are merely being facetious for a little humor to deflect the seriousness of the issue like the inbredness of a family or the muslim with 40 wives.

The issue is that some claim the Pastor is the sole spiritual earthly authority over people to be obeyed without question. This simply is not true.

Well...that would be for an underage child. Hey...it happens all the time. That is why there are places like Blue Mountain Children's Home and Tupelo Children's Mansion. Someone there will have spiritual headship don't ya think?

I would like to think that a 25-year-old woman has some sense by this age.

If she is Christian, without a father or father gave up rights...perhaps she would submit herself to Christ?

WOW! What a concept!

I made the leap in logic because of a previous statement about the woman being under her fathers authority UNTIL she marries and then is under her husbands. My first reaction to that concept is "So, is there no gap? Does she go from her father to her husband even if she marries at age 50?".

Going with the idea that she is ALWAYS under her fathers authority until she marries, then begs the question, CAN any old man come up to her -yes, even at age 25, and say "you don't have a father therefor I claim myself as your spiritual authority!"? Again, based on your comment that another man can do that.

IF you referring to underage girls, my opinion would be different of course but then again, if were speaking underage then I can make no difference between a little girl -or a little boy.
