Grief shows. Makeup cannot cover that. I think those women look old because they are burdened down with grief, pain, heartache, and laborous work. Makeup will not cover that. It is going to show. I think the men of that group don't look so as old as the women that are younger than them.

Yes very true.
I imagine these woman don't have much time for themselves, if any time.
I doubt they use moisturizers etc and yet they live in a very hot climate.
They live completely differently than most of us could ever dream.
I'm not sure what they have as far as modern conveniences... but it seems from what I've read they work very hard all day with little rest at night. We all know what we look like after a night of little sleep... imagine having a life of little sleep.
What a mess this situation is.

One thing that struck me while catching up on this thread this morning...do the authorities bother the Amish communities? Are they practicing anything that is against the laws of the land?
Not that I know of or have ever heard about. They are peaceful law-abiding citizens. They are left alone to practice how they deem appropriate.
I don't think we need to fear the government getting out of hand and stripping us of our religious freedoms.
They can, do and should investigate the Amish or anyone IF there is evidence of abuse.
I guess my heart aches a bit much when I see babies torn from mothers.
They better have very good evidence.
If this was happening to Chimney Swift (birds) - If I removed the young from a nest inside a chimney I would be slapped with a $10,000.00 fine due to the Migratory Bird Act.

You know as with any "man made" crisis the women and children really suffer the most. Even if the men are arrested and go to prison, the women and children will suffer for years. Think about it really. If it is true that there was widespread abuse in this group what will happen to the women and children if the men are convicted and sent to prison. How on earth can the state help that many people, by providing shelter, food, etc. for their normal daily lives. 400 children is a lot of kids that are possibly going to grow up with strangers. And I know foster care is not that great for kids anywhere. And the women, what are they suppose to do? Will they have help from other FLDS groups? We really need to pray about this situation that God intervenes and that these precious souls are able to have the help they need to be safe and secure in this world.
They were mostly already using welfare. Little will change but the mailing address.
I'm surprised nobody has suggested yet that this would be a great opportunity for the UC Apostolics to reach out and win some converts. Half the battle is already won!

I just saw an interview with three of the women and the lawyer representing them.
When asked if they thought it was ok for young girls to marry much older them, one of the women said, "Well, if they do *cough cough*, they'll be well taken care of."

I don't see that anyone on here is defending anyone. What some are saying and I agree, the time may come when Big brother decides that UPC is abusing their children by teaching them that they need to dress holy or refrain from the teachings of the world. Don't think it can't come to that because it can. At one time the Jews in Germany probbaly didn't think it could come to that. If our election doesn' go in the right direction it may come sooner than we think.

Brother Hall, if I had 2 or 3 children and I was 16 years old, that would mean I was at least pre-teen when I started having kids. Lets call it what it is, very young girls and I hate to use this vernacular were "pimped" out to old men under the guise of relegious purposes of their "family". Now I feel if this is true these men are pedophiles and they don't have to go and try to find children to molest, they are provided for them by their parents. If you are married, ask your wife if she would mind if you got a "spiritual" 13 -15 year old wife.
