It's not balking. It's standing against a device they and their predecessors stood against for many, many years. There's no consistency in preaching AGAINST TV and turning around and using it as a tool to "witness" (for lack of a better word). Imagine how confusing it might be when some is born again, gets in the church and realizes the UPC they've just become a member of preaches against the device that lured them there. They'll be like

I'm not talking doctrine. I'm talking standards that the manual demands. There are UPC churches in this country that should be plain ol' shut down because of disobedience to the manual of the UPC. But, they continue on. You think they're going to shut them down over TV advertising methods? Good luck!

Like I told St Matthew, I was in the church for 20 yrs. The numbers now may not be 800, but they are still very high, 700ish. I know because I was just there in February. Now call me crazy and I did get an Apostolic school education, but 150 balcony and 600 max seating downstairs with 200 out in sunday school, ushers, tv crew, choir and others...numbers do not lie.

Epley....if you had 5000 great, but you are lying. I think it is so funny that when someone hears that a church runs x amt then there are always people to come out and try to say it is not true. Epley, you should be ashamed I thought you would love to hear about a great APOSTOLIC revival. Guess not.

Running and catching are not the same.

I have known Bro. McCool all my life as a boy he was raised with my father-in-law. The whole McCool clan preached oon a regular basis at the home church.

Man you keep trying to slice the cake into smaller and smaller bites, huh? Is it hard to believe that FAC runs that many? Or is it a little envious spirit creeping up? Not accusing, but asking. Even if they ran 600, which they do run more than, that would be a great church, with the help of a tv ministry.

It seems as if people, namely you Elder Epley, are trying to make it seem as if the tv outreach does not work. It is the most affective form of outreach that FAC has used. Also, they have a school there and that brings in people too. Come on guys no matter what you say nothing is going to convince me that tv is not a good form of outreach. I may not convince people is it a good form either. But I have seen it myself.

I personally ask Pastor Mark McCool from Knoxville, my home church, how many they have won from the tv ministry and he said at last count they 35 families, not 35 people but 35 families come in from it. Let me ask you the very pointed question would you like 35 additional families?

You can never keep from people leaving, but you gotta keep reaching for the lost. OGIA made the statement earlier about people coming to a UPC from the tv ministry and seeing them preach against tv. The thing is you may have to not preach against tv being the "devil." The tv is not the devil things on the tv are. Moderation is key here. You gotta teach moderation. That is what Bishop McCool does.
