I heard they were bringing in a Cruise ship to house some of the people in Galveston. I thought that was a great idea!!
The good thing about finding that Valero was the gas was still at 3.34/gallon! .

I may have been inconvenience, but there have been so many other people who had it much worse than me. The other day, my heart broke when I visited a 89 yr old widow lady a few doors down.

She had no ice and the only food she had was some old leftovers. She kept saying that she didn't want to burden anyone. Fortunately, after I told a couple of neighbors, we were able to get her some groceries and ice.

I thank God that I have been healthy and able to get around with no problems.

That's the beauty of all of this - helping our neighbors!

So much involved in the situation than even what you mentioned above. You have to consider the horrible mud, mosquitoes, clean up - just a mess!!!

I'm so thankful this cold front is here during this time. I hope it sticks around for a while! Very unusual to have one this eary in the year!!

Re: Hike away from Ike?

I really wish my health was better. So much to do that needs physical labor.

Took me all day yesterday until 6pm to clean up the driveway and a 30 x 30 area"!

You can't take a step in my back yard on that area without stepping on limbs!

Got to get back out there. Had to take a break and cook some lunch, fortunately, I have a gas stove.

I'm nearly out of bread, that is not a good thing.

Running the generator so I can wash and dry some clothes. So back to work.

See you guys later.

P.S.

I saw all the Entery people with their big trucks on my street yesterday and working on my light pole, but unfortunately, it may still be weeks before we get electricity. Thanks for your prayers!

Dear Sis. Esther,

May the Lord God touch you and restore you to better health! Also
may HE cause your power to be restored more speedily, in Jesus Name.
HE can DO IT, in JESUS NAME!!! We are HIS people, the Sheep of HIS
Pasture!

Hugs,

Re: Hike away from Ike?

Thanks for your prayers!

You need to be in your 30's for this kind of work.

Lord I am so out of shape. Having major surgery 3 years in a row has set me back much further than I realized.

But we are making good progress. My BIL picked up some bread and eggs and gas for us and brought us his chainsaw to borrow.

He is fixing to leave to meet the curfew time.

BTW...I heard on the radio that FEMA may reimburse you for your generators and chainsaws, but on their site it says if you have a medical need.

Anyone know the truth of this matter?

I planned ahead and have plenty of food and water. Perishable foods you can only stock up so much on that.

Our land lands are down and only get a few cell calls in and out.

I will be in Pearland tomorrow for a dentist appt and should get good reception then. I hope.

Still have a TON of limbs to pick up and my back says it wants to quit.

Girl I wish I could get there to help you. I am feeling so much better and I just wish the kids werent in school... we would be there in a heartbeat to help... and we could gab too LOL... I have the stuff you are wanting too from me (the email lol) but will wait a while to send that off until things are back to semi normal ... please take care of yourself and let us know if you need anything. Rob may have just gotten a different job within his company and may be just hanging out at a hotel there in Pearland for a few days... if so could you use his help? They are talking about promoting him to Rig move engineer and so he would be there on his off days until they have another rig to move.
