Ferd, I understand that they will grade well based on what they say. My point is that we have enough real history now to know that having a Republican in power will not end abortion. At some point it just becomes a talking point while the abortion rate continues to be astronomical after several Republican terms. I certainly believe that abortion is an unbelievable abomination, and my concern is that it is just becoming a political football or talking point.
Proof that the Government is incapable of dealing with the issue.
well I dont agree with you on the first part, but I SURE AM in agreement with the idea that politicians should be in the business of making sure businesses stay big and make as much money as they can!
because:
I have never gotten a job from a poor person (or business)
I have never seen a big business that didnt employ thousands of people.
I have never seen a retirement plan like a 401k funded by someone standing in the government hand out line.
I have seen oil companies make me $$$$ in my 401k.
I have seen big (and not so big) busisnesses give me a weekly paycheck and health insurance
So I am AGAINST abortion and FOR BUSINESS!
Ferd....Government isn't qualified to make difficult decisions like abortion.
Esther, pro-choice means a woman has the right to make the choice on having an abortion for herself. It does not mean thinking abortions are ok to have, perform, or support. If I found myself in a situation where I was talking with a woman considering an abortion, I would never tell her I thought she should have one. I would do my best to convince her not to have one. Ultimately, the choice should be hers to make: not mine, not yours, not the church's, not the government's.
It really is this simple.
Pro-choice = Right to murder unborn child
Pro-life = Right for child to live
Choice should be whether to engage in the act to create life.
And for those who want to say rape cases have a right to abort, should have a police report to go along with the abortion, which they DON'T!
Rico, you can't polish this to say the government shouldn't have a say. When it comes to medical reasons, doctors has always made that decision along with the parents.
But like RDave said, where is God in these decisions? Does anyone believe He is still on the throne?

At least I offered an attempt at an exegetical argument for my position.
I know, RD. It just gets me angry that after repeatedly saying I do not think abortion is ok I still have to deal with people saying the opposite. It's like they think they have the right to tell me what I believe on this issue. It shouldn't surprise me, because they think they have the right to tell a woman whether she should or shouldn't have a baby, as if it were any of their business to begin with.
can you give me an example? Not being silly here, but I honestly have not seen this. If its true, it is very concerning.
Ferd, the concept of Halliburton moving it's headquarters overseas to the Middle East would have been unheard of. Major ompanies moving their entire IT and customer support overseas would have been unheard of. My sister worked for a major loans company that handles a lot of student loans. One of her biggest responsibilities was going down to Mexico to train people to process and handle the loans since they were shipping those responsibilities there. There are many more examples of their being a new breed of job being sent out (not sweat-shop, sneaker sewing jobs like in the past).

while it pains me to even respond to you... i have to.
first of all, nobody is talking about serious health issues. we are talking about abortion as a means of birth control.
your silly notion of government seizure is just goofy.
But here's the problem Ferd....the Government will decide what is and isn't a serious health issue. It's your wife on the table facing the prospects of possibly needing an abortion and doctors are divided...who's the most qualified to choose when the day is done...your wife or the Government?

To me it's not a red/blue argument.(Aquilla seems to think otherwise) It's a Biblical one. I've tried to convey that I don't understand the justification for one that holds the position that you do but have tried not to attack the person.

I'm not saying that Gov't is incapable of dealing with the issue. I'm saying that Republican politicians have been unwilling to actually deal with the situation...especially in the light of the fact that they don't really have to. All they have to do is profess a position.
