Re: Cross Dressers

Does intent matter? Yes, of course it does. Which is why the scripture in question clearly talks about men dressing in women's clothing with the INTENT of looking like or becoming - or taking on the form of - a woman. This verse is about intent. Do women today, wearing women's pants, put them on to look like or to become a man? In general, no. Some do... they are called transvestites (this would be sinful per Deu 22:5). Likewise, some men wear women's clothing to live as women (again, sinful).

Read the verse... it's all about INTENT - I don't know how much clearer it can be - it's plain as day:

Deu 22:5 The woman shall not wear (to exist, that is, be/become) that which pertaineth (something prepared, that is, any apparatus (as an implement, utensil, dress, vessel or weapon): - armour ([-bearer]), artillery, bag, carriage, + furnish, furniture, instrument, jewel, that is made of, X one from another, that which pertaineth, pot, + psaltery, sack, stuff, thing, tool, vessel, ware, weapon...) unto a man (properly a valiant man or warrior), neither shall a man (properly a valiant man or warrior) put on a woman's garment (...assuming the shape of the object beneath...): for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Lol, so, I asked a simple question, you can't answer it, so you make juvenile insults, and then imply that you're dealing with me on my level huh?

Are they the loose fitting kind, or the "poured into" style?

And it totally lines up with other scripture in that chapter that speaks against homosexuality! And I totally agree with it!

Grace will aways require more than the law commanded... it requires a committment from the heart..and we give our lives totally in honor of Him.

God wants to be first in our lives.. i do agree God knows exactly what happens with all time.. but I don't believe that the scripture was referencing a type of clothing in Deut 22:5... but it is a timeless principle.. that is still very much to be followed today by any Christian.

A woman today should always look feminine... in dress and actions.

Now, if you choose to believe that "dresses and skirts", which was the proper clothing of a women of yesteryear, is required to achieve that feminine look.... then more power to you, abide by your heartfelt convictions... but don't try to tell someone who does choose to wear pants that it is an abomination... which equates sin.

If pants are an abomination... it is an abomination in the home.. in the bed... anywhere you wear them.. or in any style. That is ludicrous.. I'm sorry, but the two legged article of clothing called "pants" is not the abomination... cross dressing is.

Women in china actually wore pants before men did in western culture... In our culture over 50 years ago, it probably wouldn't have been the most appropriate thing for Christian women to wear pants... women traditionally wore dresses... they are a culture thing... culture changes. If you choose not to move on with culture as it changes.. then that if fine, it is your walk with God... I can totally respect convictions of others..

Of course that would also mean you shouldn't have a problem with ruffled shirts, short pants w/hose, and long powdered curls in the hair of our men...like our forefathers did not so long ago.. Nah, probably not... because culture has changed... they looked like sissies to us now.

and just for the record on a more personal note... I really don't have a vested interest either way except for the fact I am raising girls... I very rarely wear pants myself.. I do to bed, and to the gym almost every day.. but my main attire is skirts. It has nothing what so ever to do with that old testament scripture.. and all to do with a modesty issue. I finally had to admit, my mother had a deep conviction against wearing pants..and some it was transferred to me... but she was also born in 1931 and lived through the transitional changes of culture... her teachings had a major impact on me.

Now, if she had only had a conviction on cutting hair, I might be a perfect Patty Pentecostal woman..

Re: Cross Dressers

Every poster on this thread is filtering this info thru their own belief system, so the answers we're reading are reflecting, what the poster sees. Some see it as a moral issue of homosexuality, while others are extrapolating it to mean an outright ban on pants on women applicable to us toay. Unless you know how each poster sees the issue, then it is difficult to evaluate what is being posted.

Re: Cross Dressers

Lisa, I like your well balanced view, posted above, but your first phrase about grace is totally foreign to me. I won't go there, because it would rquire new thread on grace.

I was just thinking this same thought while reading through some of the posts. Most of what is read and posted is filtered through personal belief systems no matter how they're arrived at.

When you have the diversity of posters, belief systems, personal experience and where people are at in regard to times and seasons in their own lives....... what they're going through presently or just come through ........ it colours their perspective and their thoughts regarding any issue as the thoughts are written down and recorded as "posts".

Interesting to me anyhow.
