Cannot believe people like this...whoever's idea it was. If you want to take your wife to a place like this for a 75th wedding anniversary more power to you (I guess).

When the lost are dying and missionaries are struggling to raise their budgets and there are churches that need to be built and on and on, a $500. meal is not appropriate on a church tab.

But hey I don't like lobster.

the (visiting) minister responded "that's fine!"
This should clarify again.

Good one IvorytTckler;

Sorta reminds me of the following

Some years ago while I was conducting
a Revival { I Will Not Name The Town }

The people seemed to respond well to my
type of preaching and the attendance was
increasing nightly.

People were recieving the Holy Ghost and
someone was getting baptized each night.

The pastor was an exeutive in a local plant
and lived in a beautiful brick home.

After each service the pastor & wife always
went to a restaurant and ate with someone.

I couldn't go because he had me staying in
the home of an elderly couple and they rode
to and from Church with me each night.

The Pastor would give me the offering at
the close of each service.

It became very puzzeling to me because
I would only get 4 to 7 dollar bills plus loose
change and this continued for over a week.

UNTIL

that 2nd Friday Night
I had my car all packed and made arrangments
for somone else to pick up the elderly couple.

The offering plate was passed
and
Put In A " 10 Dollar Bill " -

After that service as the pastor handed me the
offering envelope, I looked inside -

LO
AND
BEHOLD

There Were Only EIGHT ONE DOLLAR BILLS
and
some loose Change !

I asked "Brother Can You Change A Twenty" ?
Shocked,

He Looked At The Offering Envelope and said that
there wasn't a Twenty in there.

I answered "I Know, but I need change for a $20"

He then opened his wallet and pulled out a Ten
and 2 Fives -

As I looked at the TEN, I saw my Dad's Telephone
Number That I Had Written On That Bill !

I said "There It Is, I Wrote That Number On That
TEN When I Was Talking To My Dad Right Before
Tonight's Service " -

" I Must Have Put That Ten In The Offering
Instead Of A One " !

And Then I Put
HIS TEN,
2 FIVES
AND
MY TWENTY
IN MY WALLET !

And afterwards I followed them to a Restaurant,
waited in my car until I knew that they had time
to place their order, and then I walked in -

I stopped by the cashier and ordered every expensive
dish that I thought that I could possibly eat including
3 deserts and told the waitress that I would be joining
the pastor's group -

As I sat down they were surprised to see me and asked
about the elderly couple -
I told them that they got a ride home with somebody else
and that I was Famished -
I had not eaten anything but commodity food for the last
week and half and just wanted to eat something that had
some seasoning in it .
The pastor said that the hamburgers were real good here
and I replied that I had already ordered -

Pigging Out, I really enjoyed my T-Bone and all of the rest

REFLECTING

AS I WAS LEAVING THAT TOWN

UPON WHAT I ENJOYED THE MOST

HEY,

IT WAS

STIFFING HIM

WITH THAT LARGE

RESTAURANT FOOD BILLL !

Bishop

footnote:
About 6 years later I ran into that pastor at a conference and he told me that he had changed
because I taught him " How To Treat An Evangelist " and we are good friends today -

You assume it's an either or proposition. You do not have enought information to assume the church isn't providing adequate funds to missionsaries.

Well, that was a nice way to handle it. You taught that pastor a very good lesson.

I know of a situation where a pastor stiffed a visiting minister.

Hey I don't care how much the church has given to missionaries, there are still missionaries deputizing and raising budgets that could use funds like this and there are Home Missionaries living on meager funds...the world is not evangelized yet...and God's money should not be wasted in this fashion.

Saints work hard for the money they put into the church...at least most of them do.

Millions are also starving...
