Nobody said anything about having him because he was popular.... it was because he was reaching souls.
Souls are the flavor of ALL of my months.
Now... to say... I wouldn't have him here because, although he is having a great work in other places (Say large cities with an inner city to reach) where he might be able to reach people of a culture that our white shirts & ties might not be able to reach I live in a small town and the effect he is having there would not come into play here.
For one to make a statement like that would, to me, be a well thought out and well worded statement of their feelings that didn't just make a blank statement against the man but recognized that in most small communities he would not have the impact that he might have in a large metropolis where there is a more varied culture.
That might be exactly what your feelings are but often we make blanket statements without any attempt to temper our words with a well thought out phraseology that would more completely tell the whole of our feelings.
But... then again... you may just be wholly dismissing the completely. Who knows?
In the town I live in he would have no real impact and, therefore, there would be no good reason to invite him.
Were I working in a city that had a lot of that type of culture and people who would dismiss me out of hand because we don't relate but would listen to this guy... then I would certainly try and see if those souls could be reached.
