For the record, since it's obvious Dan is either not reading everything or is being intellectually dishonest. I never asserted anything about baptism and in fact I have maintained that this is NOT what the thread is about. Please if you want to discuss the whys and hows and whats of baptism, start another thread

All this has been repeated. I also never made an assertion as to the whys and hows and whats of repentance.

Nor did I assert Paul was not to be called a brother because he repented and nor did I say there was only one meaning to the word brother. I said there were at least 3.

Studying the book of Romans and trying to catch up in my Greek class.

I spent a week discussing the scriptures with a DTS student on CARM.

Dan, did you know there is only one verse that directly says we are saved by grace through faith? Eph 2:8 Salvation is linked to faith in Christ and the grace of God. If I use the reasoning some folks do, I would wonder why it is not emphasised more and if these are the only things needed why do the disciples go to great lengths to baptize new converts (middle of the night, that very day)?

In Romans, righteousness and justification are by faith (not by the works of the law) but these verses don't negate the necessity of baptism in Jesus' name for remission of sins and the baptism of the Spirit with the evidence of tongues for salvation either.

It seems some totally disregard some verses and hold to others when there should be a harmony of all the scripture.

Dan, If there is one truth, how are we born again?

Homework #1 ...

How many references are there to faith ... in the NT?
as compared to baptism?

Homework #2

Use your Greek to find out what 'born again' means in John 1?

Homework #3
In John3... Why does the born of the water statement ..mentioned once ... while being born of the Spirit ... seems to take precedence .... after he makes born of water and Spirit statement

And what specifically does Jesus say will bring eternal life?

Homework #4

When Jesus healed the sick ... what did he say 'SAVED' them?

It is such a fun journey watching and recording the words of folks on the Hardline highway. The highway which has no yield signs only read lights.

Then to watch the change as the hardliners realize that the "grip" of the non-heaven bound electives "can" be dropped.

There is only one chapter set aside for cutting your hair. But many put that marker on their crown as a gem.

I don't.

Faith is everything in a Christian walk. As saints, we live by the faith of the Son of God each and every day. If we lose our faith, then an evil heart of unbelief will cause us to lose our salvation.
