I do have a question about the title of this thread. Why in the world would a successful, licensed UPC preacher steal a TV stand? Especially when technically he is not supposed to even own a TV? Oh, I know he can use it as a "monitor" stand, but......
You would think the man could buy his own TV stand! Or do what I did 17 years ago when I bought a 30" tube TV when they first came out (were the biggerst tube ones made at the time). I spent so much money on the TV I had to be creative for a stand for it so found an old microwave stand in the garage and cut off the legs to make it shorter then painted it black to match the TV.

How many lies against television advertising has been successfully debunked?
Television ads take the place of personal outreach? Not one shred of evidence, even in charismatic circles this is the m.o of tv advertisers. Even Budweiser dosn't put all its advertising on television.
Television is worst than internet? I don't have enough room to cite psychological studies which shows the effects of the internet make negative effects of television seem pale by comparison.
The cost of tv ads are outrageous. I get all the air time I want for free. Cable access has leveled the playing field.
Television advertising isn't an effective outreach tool. The best outreach tool in the upci approved arsenal converts less than 2% of contacts. Television can't do much worse. If television didn't work, people wouldn't advertise.
The same biblical scripture cited as proof against television can be applied to the internet.
There is no credible evidence to stop television advertising. Allow people to reach the lost the way they see fit.

I could be provisionally in favor of a national ad campaign like the Mormons have.
The folks in favor of televangelizing are living in a fantasy world. The overwhelming majority of the viewers of religious programming have already "got" religion! We'll be fishing in a rain barrel of bored, restless fishes with full tummies.
Apparently, one can say this over and over and it never gets through.
All the while the change will grant tacit approval to the viewing of television programming, which is unwholesome by design. The typing of reason, logic, and bible studies on AFF in support of point might as well be typed on toilet paper.
You only have the illusion of control with television. The digs, innuendo, blasphemy, swearing, and other objectionable material isn't nonstop. By the time you've hit the button on the remote, Ethel's done been indecensed!

After further consideration the thought of Maddix turning somersaults on TV for no apparent reason in the middle of preaching has convinced me to change my mind about the TV resolution.
I firmly urge all of the brethern to vote "NO". Better to continue wandering in the 19th century than further marginalize the Oneness Pentecostal movement.
