I'm sure he had already discussed at length prior to yesterday. The fact that codified these previous discussions yesterday is irrelevant.

The usual "unnamed sources" within the WH have been quoted as Trump being upset with Comey for not defending him more in regards to the Russian investigation. I have to believe that, since Trump oddly claimed that Comey told him thrice that he was not under investigation in the termination letter. Trump, allegedly, wants the investigation closed and over.

This was not the way to accomplish that.
