Re: Who Knows The Back Story To Flint's Poison H2o

This is where a good non-partisan reporter could make a name for themselves.
Have to have some good FOIA requests to find out what really happened.

The MI Governor has already released emails from his office relating to this issue. Good move, considering ignorant people were claiming he was responsible for the crisis due to...wait for it....racism.

Speaking of the R-word, for those wanting to claim it was done by the racist GOP need only to look at the Flint city council in which seven out of the nine are black and ALL are Democrats.

So anyone wanting to claim racism or GOP is responsible is an idiot.

I wouldn't be to quick to dismiss the MI GOP's culpability in this-- or at least some elected officials who are GOP members.

Apparently, there is enough mud to pass around for this pie.

Of course, it is the citizens of Flint who are suffering.

Much like with Edwards, the state publicly denounced Hanna-Attisha's findings. In an interview with CNN, Hanna-Attisha said she was "attacked" and told she was an "unfortunate researcher" who was "causing near hysteria."

"We knew the numbers were right. We checked and we double checked," she said. "We knew that lead in that water was getting into the bodies of children. So we stood our ground."

Her stubbornness paid off.

The state finally admitted...

No. I never came close to such a preposterous statement.

There are some who ARE saying that the state was willful in their initial denials of the problem and would have taken the complaints of the citizens more seriously IF the citizens were affluent and predominately white.

In America, with the exceptions of very successful business people, athletes and Hollywood stars, your very affluent communities are usually predominately white. Rich people complain, people listen. Poor people complain, people don't listen.

Did you read the last article I linked?

There were medical professionals ringing the alarm bells LONG before the state finally admitted there was a problem.

Please explain what you mean, if not that they may be culpable...ie responsible for poisoning Flint's water supply.

There are some who say Elvis is alive, martians landed in Nevada and Democrats are good Christians too. Just because mouths are flapping doesn't mean it's true.

This isn't a racial issue. To paint it as such is ridiculous...but par for the Democratic course.

Re: Who Knows The Back Story To Flint's Poison H2o

I don't know who is responsible for this.
At this point it sounds to me as both the state and the city share some of the responsibility.

Re: Who Knows The Back Story To Flint's Poison H2o

From what I've read, Flint's elected officials financially broke the city. A financial Emergency Manager was appointed by Gov Snyder and that EM along with other officials decided to disconnect from Detroit water in an effort to save like $19M (not sure if accurate). Anyhow, they had to utilize an old treatment facility and the flint river, which sounds to me like a bad idea. They forgot to treat the pipes with a chemical that would've prevented the old pipes from leaching chems into the water. Then when things got real bad, Gov Snyder had to come up with millions to bail Flint out and reconnect to Detroit city water. Unfortunately, the damage was/is done and the old pipes can't carry the water without contaminating it.

Snyder may be in charge, but I do not feel he is to blame. Contrary to a lot of popular opinion, this should have nothing to do with race. The demographics of Flint are not as lopsided as the media would have you believe. Frustrating that everyone wants to blame Snyder, but not their elected officials who couldn't balance the books and the ones who didn't properly treat the water once it was switched off of Detroit's system.
