This is what I know at this juncture...
The eye has still not been removed, but not because it isn't necessary to do so. The doctors have called in a specialists in eye surgery...every bone behind the eye was broken.
He is in tremendous pain, however, none of his ribs were broken.
Thank you all for your PMs and continued prayers for this man and his family...

Lord Jesus,
I KNOW YOU can spare this man's eye. Regardless of what man may
say, if You would see fit, Lord God, to spare this man's eye, I know it

Just to update...his eye was removed and he is up and about.
Thank you all for your continued prayers for both he and his family...
