Re: Marco Rubio Predicted Russia's Actions 2 Week

My point is not about promoting Rubio for president. My point is this guy is a Senator and knew what was about to happen. The administration acts befuddled by it all.

I doubt the Administration is befuddled at all.

Interesting. I have heard grumbling about him here in Wisconsin. Sorry to change the subject.

I heard a replay of the 2012 presidential debate when Obama corrected Romney for having a Cold War approach to foreign relations because he said Russia was a threat. Seems Rubio also was saying the same thing recently and with good reason. Putin wants to regain Russia's geopolitical position previously they had.

Re: Marco Rubio Predicted Russia's Actions 2 Week

If Russia is a threat, then we created that threat with our insistence on fighting Assad instead of ISIS. Obama has this nutty idea that we must first topple Assad, install the "moderates", and then go after ISIS. He sees Assad and ISIS as moral equivalents. Yeah, this approach has worked out well in other "Arab Spring" countries, huh?

Putin has sense enough to see that secular dictatorships are the best we can hope for in that region. We allied ourselves with right wing dictators in Latin America during the Cold War against the Soviets. What is wrong with being allied with secular dictators in the middle east against ISIS? We missed a golden chance to get concessions from Assad by promising to keep him from be overthrown by ISIS. Sorry, but Russia is no threat here. They are using the right approach. They might be our only hope in keeping a leash on Iran as well.
