I'm sure it won't be that hard to find some solution for this
By the way, it's basically a poll tax if you require money or documents that cost money or anything that costs money to be able to vote. I disagree with poll taxes don't you?

Then why not take the birth certificate requirement away for everything it is currently required for just in case it might cost a poor person a few bucks? Or are saying this should only apply to registering to vote.

Re: Ginsburg Was Right
The a reason a certain party doesn't want to id to prevent voter fraud. The cost to the poor is a smoke screen as well as racial suppression.

As far as I'm concerned it's just for voting. In general it's fine to require a reasonably priced document for most things, just not voting. There may be a few other exceptions I'm not aware of but in general for things like driver's licenses and such I feel it's fine to require a 15 dollar birth certificate.

Or maybe the prevention of voter fraud on the republican side is a smokescreen (you know since it's soooo rampant everywhere TIC)...
But regardless of who which party is trying to use a smokescreen there are real people that are being impacted. Do I think there is a whole lot of people who cannot afford to vote because of the new texas law? I don't think there are nearly as many as the democrats act like. But then again I don't think voter fraud is nearly as big of an issue as repiblicans make it out to be either.
So with that said, can't texas pass a solution that will prevent voter fraud (something that recently is helping democrats) while also not being prohibitive to the really poor (which will help repiblicans)?

Isn't an Id like ten dollars?

Isn't 10 dollars like more money than some people have in their bank account?

Re: Ginsburg Was Right
My profession puts me in contact with the poor quite often. Most are not really poor buts thats another subject. Ten dollars is nothing compared to TV,drinks and cigs many pay for.
Smokescreen!

Re: Ginsburg Was Right
I have a constitutional right to keep and bare arms. What's it worth to me personally? Since I have the right, as do all US citizens that are not disqualified for felonies or other disqualifiers, so should I, or a person that cannot afford one, get one for free? That's not fair that only those that this right is important enough to them, to save up until they have enough money to exersize that right to go buy a gun.
I am not for so many loop holes that it would be virtually impossible for the poor to get an ID to vote, but I find it quite a stretch to think most of them don't have some sort of legitimate ID.
But once again, what is that right worth to them or us.

So the privilege to drive is worth a poor man scraping together 15 dollars but not the precious privilege to vote?
You are entitled to your opinion but so am I and I think your view is irrational. I personally do not believe in a straight "one man one vote". I believe one should have at least a high school diploma and have to pass a basic knowledge test about our constitution.

lol. So instead of finding a way to accomodate poor people and help them afford such documents for voting you would rather try to compare voting to driving or owning guns...
