Re: A Gospel from Negativism

The early Apostolic movement rediscovered the truth of full salvation, new birth. Several generations later people have grown tired of it. They look at the ease of the Protestant faith. Just believe then you are saved. Not ony saved but saved forever with themselves responsible for nothing at all.

They despise the teaching of discipleship.

Jesus said unless you take your cross daily and follow him you cannot be his disciple.

Oh really? How many threads do you see about DISCIPLESHIP lets say on this forum alone? Seems to be very little interest.

I'll give you a hint. although it might be more fun to guess.

The picture was taken in Florida, when me and my four sisters were at some fast food burger place. Outside at one of their tables.

Yep. Everyone is saved saved saved just b/c they believe. as Johnny James put it, they run real fast through the gospels, do a long jump over Acts and land somewhere around Romans 10 and take that as the only verse they need to explain how to be saved. Ignore Acts. Ignore written church history from the early centuries. Just hold on real tight to "all I have to do is accept the Lord and I'm saved forever".

Good question Mike.

Why seek for the Holy Ghost? When they are taught that they received the Holy Ghost as soon as they accepted Jesus as Lord.

Without the Holy Ghost, they lack the power to live a holy life.

And since many are taught that Once Saved Always Saved, and that we are all sinners anyway, why sacrifice to try to get the carnality, the idols that they unknowingly worship, out of their life.

Fun and pleasure is the call of the day. Why deny themselves of any pleasure, when everyone else is doing it.

Here is where the Church is today,

Quote:
2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness
Who will be saved? Those that are born again, AND,

Quote:
2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle
.

Sanctification of the Spirit------just the opposite of those that—“had pleasure in unrighteousness

Received not the “love of the Truth” You need the Spirit of Truth inside. However, it is not enough just to receive the Holy Ghost, dress what people tell you is holy, go to church, and never cultivate the love for the Truth. The love for the Truth has to be cultivated thru study of God’s Word, prayer for wisdom, and obeying what you find written in the Word, even if it goes against your peers, or the culture of the day.
