Sure, i understand. And it seems perfectly reasonable to do what you suggest, get invested in the outcome of some political circus, feel like your doing the world, or your community, whatever a favor by being a responsible citizen...you have completely bought the lie, and I honestly am not blaming you. No one ever seems to get what they want, but hey, maybe your guy can get with the other side's guy, and y'all can work out some kind of compromise.
While it is completely understandable for someone to grow up thinking this,
I see no reason for an informed believer to die thinking this.
1 Sam 8 is very clear, and quotes God quite plainly; none of the often apparent ambiguity that might mark another concept. Let me paraphrase a little for you;
"You will become a slave to him,
and I will not even listen to your cries in that day."
So, BAM, participate in choosing the next
deluded individual to defy God, and while you're
at it, counsel others to do the same-
-heck, call 'em stupid for listening to God,
it's ok with me.
"I see the rulers of your nations,
gathering together with their next devious plan to
deny ME; and I am laughing," paraphrased.
That's GOD, LAUGHING at the guy you are voting for.
Peace
