I would vote for him for sure.

Herman Cain: The other black president.

Re: Cain Wins Florida Straw Poll!

I've liked Cain from the first. While I would never not vote for him because he never held public office I do see it as a negative in that he may tend to crash into "gotchya!' questions from the press more then the others.

I like Cain and wish he would win, primarily because it may put the Fairtax in play.
However, I don't see him making it past all of the career politicians.

I don't see him avoiding all the traps that reporters will be asking him non-stop. If he became a contender, it is only a manner of days before he gets caught with a gotchya! question that the late night talk show hosts will proceed to crucify him mercilessly with. Something career Republicans are skilled at avoiding -and democrats don't have to, since they are rarely asked them!

I'm thinking it may hurt him some that his wife is not in good health. He said at one of his first campaign speeches that she doesn't travel with him much because she is not in good health.

Re: Cain Wins Florida Straw Poll!

I would be shocked if Cain was to take the GOP ticket. His winningin Florida is a good thing though, especially since this is his home turf.

Better him than Bachman for sure!

I also have liked Herman Cain from the start but agree with the part of your post about him tending to crash into the "gotcha" questions from the press.

Not only that but I am sad to say that this is a negative but he sometimes is too frank for our politically correct world in which you have to appeal to the 40% of people who consider themselves independents and just vote for the canidate they feel the best about and who doesn't say anything that offends them. (hence Obama's success in 08 with his soaring rhetoric that did not match is actual positions).

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

One thing about the Florida straw poll is that you could donate to receive 10 ballot votes maximum. So, one person could vote 10 times.

Are you saying that he was a great businessman man, but was unable to be effective at the national economy?

I am saying that Hoover was the very first international businessman. AND that he was elected in large part because of that business experience.

AND the great depression happened on his watch and he responded slowly and in some cases incorrectly.

I am not saying that Cain is Hoover. But from a purely "electability" perspective, the American people dont generally elect businessmen and when we have, it has not worked well.

Cain would be on my short list with Perry, Romney and Christie.
