MTD, how many varying perspectives of Oneness theology are there?

Do you contend there is a single, monolithic, 100% consensus on this?

Your way or the highway? LOL

Just because someone doesn't feel like taking a poll, shouldn't mean it's synonymous with apathy. It's a forum for crying out loud. Which means we get to pick and choose where we want to spend our time/energy.

Re: The Results Of My Poll Are Shocking

When JESUS, the NAME, is distinguished as being God the Father, then I agree Jesus is the Father! Oneness teaches JESUS is the NAME of the Father. I never heard of oneness scholars who claimed JESUS is not the name of the Father. Jesus is not a name restricted to the Son. I think people mistaken SON for JESUS, when they hear Jesus is the name of the Father.

Since there is one person in the Godhead, and since a NAME points to a PERSON, Jesus is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Actually no, YOUR question was Jesus God the Father. Even I said no.

They would have even voted no to that question as worded on APF or AFF.

Besides the true litmus test was is Jesus Son of God or God the Son.

100% said Son of God.

I used to believe that. Not sure anymore...

Jesus surely identifies the person of the Messiah, expressed, incarnate and the "Father in flesh." But it would seem to me that the name "Jesus" exclusively refers to the Son of God, the Messiah, Anointed One, The Christ.

Why isn't the TRUE litmus test:

"Do believe God is one?"

or

"Do you believe God exists eternally in three persons which are one, or as one deity manifest in three personae?

God the Father manifest Himself in flesh, but that FLESH was NOT God the Father; that flesh (the son) was indwelt by God the Father. Since the man, Christ Jesus, was both man (flesh) and God (Spirit), I can neither say that "Jesus was God the Father" nor "Jesus was not God the Father." It must be worded correctly (and scripturally: I Timothy 3:16): God [Spirit] was manifest in the flesh [Son].

What you propose is a component of what my Dad always referred to as "Jesus-Only" doctrine. One with which I wholeheartedly disagree.

For a Oneness Forum I consider this to be a staggering defeat for Oneness doctrine.

So my initial impression that the flow of this forum is generally anti Oneness was by no means "nonsense" as it was spinned. It was the actual gauge of where Apostolic Friends Forum currently is.

Well trying to find the good side as I said earlier at least we are allowed to discuss Oneness doctrine here.

I dunno, Michael the Disciple. I didn't vote because the question struck me as one of those "trick question" polls. "Jesus" was the name given to a baby that was born in Bethlehem around 2,000 years ago (Matthew 1:21). Was THAT BABY "God the Father?" According to Joseph's vision, the Father of that Baby was "The Holy Ghost."

Is "the Holy Ghost" the Father of "God the Father?"

It's a more complex issue than what your question appeared to invite.

Yeah, it seems that a lot of people had similar reactions as I did to M the D's poll question.

Re: The Results Of My Poll Are Shocking

2Cor.5:19
To wit,(or to know) that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation
John 1:1,2
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.
14 And the Words was made flesh and dwelt among us. And we beheld His glory as of the only begotten of the Father.
Col.1:15
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

The One sitting on the Throne (JESUS) is the ONLY image that will ever be
seen. No man has seen GOD at any time. The only glimpse of GOD that JESUS
disciples saw, was in the Face of Jesus Christ. That is also the only way we
will ever see GOD will be HIS GLORY in the face of JESUS, and if anyone sees
HIM today, it will be HIS Glory shining out of the faces of HIS people today.
He that lives within will shine forth.
