Not true at all. The Olympics are in 2016. Most construction will transpire 1-2 years before the opening ceremony. The criminals in Chicago would be posturing for buying and selling their land in the next few years.
SOM has a rough masterplan. They built the Sears tower. I spoke with the project manager that built the tower. He built it in a year. No new Jobs there. They are building a Tower in Dubai which tops off in 2011 and people transfer to other work before they would have don Olympic work. I can name 5-10 american firms that will have a part of engineering, design and build in RIO. Most physical jobs will be demoliition in the next few years starting a couple years from now.

The Deodoro sports complex is in use and was in use for the 2007 Pan american Games in Rio. I have with other members hosted a sailing venue and olympic trials in our yacht cub in the past. This is a planning stage and fund raising starts soon. I am familiar with the Pan am games.
