This would be correct. The very act of different groups separating would isolate their genetics to specific geographies and locations. In other words, if you took 100 random people and put them on their own continent and came back a thousand years later (or two or three thousand) the people there would have their own unique look.

If you want to know what the populace looked like before this happened, a good place to look is Brazil where various races are recombining -probably why they also seem to have the best looking people on the planet as well!

Every person on earth can be broadly placed into one of three anthropological groups, corresponding to the three sons of Noah.

Ham, Shem and Japheth, were the fathers of the races. Negroid, Caucasoid,
and Mongoloid.

After leaving the ark, Noah's decendants migrated into the land of Shinor, which is present-day Iraq. The Tower of Babel fiasco and God's confounding of the languages caused additional massive migration into more distant lands.

Ham's decendants migrated south into North Africa and became the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Moroccans and other darker complectioned races.

Shem's decendants went east into Asia and became the Shemetic or Oriental (Mongoloid) races. These include Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian, Israeli, etc.

Japheth's decendants went north and west into Western Europe and became the original stock of the Caucasian Races.

Intergration of the races has produced many combinations and racial subsets, but originally there were only three races.

From these original areas mankind eventually overspread the whole Earth.

Scott, you are correct about the pigmentation not being a curse. However, KJV has sanitized the story. The real reason Ham was cursed, was because he commited a homosexual act with his drunken father.

Also, not every language came into being at the tower of babel. There were probably only a few, but all other languages have evolved from those since. It is fascinating to see the progression of races starting with Eskimos in Alaska to native Americans up and down the coast, going into Mexico, Central America, and finally throughout South America. You can so easily see the similarities from one area to the next and the progression. Even the Eskimo's in Alaska with the similar appearance to their Asian counterparts that they separated from during the last ice age.

Language is always evolving but we cannot ignore the fact that there was one Adam and one Eve who were taken from the earth. The outside is not as important as the inside. Jesus has to be on the inside.
