Yeah, and it's doesn't help your polling numbers on this board to not like Palin either.

Her making a statement about Africa being a country is a true story. I heard her on the radio this morning making a statement about not being sure if Africa was a country or a continent. And yes, it was her. The radio was playing a bunch of one-liners from various people and she was one of them.

Since it's a country and a continent it could be confusing and may need clarity in discussion. If the entire context was heard I bet it's not what the media made it to be.

It's not a country...just a continent bro.

Depends on the reference... Would one never refer to South Africa as simply Africa?

We often refer to USA as simply America.

Sorry, my friend. LOL!

Africa is NOT a country. It's a continent made up of other countries. There is only one country with the word "Africa" in it and that's South Africa, but there is no country called 'Africa' anymore than there is one called 'North America', even though the USA has "America" in the name of that country in North America.

Only we in America refer to it that way. LOL!

Our country has states, not other countries, which is why I think we are the exception in that regard.

Australia, OTOH, is a country and a continent. The same is true of Antartica.

I think it's a valid point. If one were from South Africa he could speak of going "back to Africa" meaning the continent or the country. "South" could be implied if not spoken.

Nope. South Africa has nine provinces with each having their own capitals.

But people do commonly refer to it as "America"...just ask Neil Diamond
