I disagree. The reason he's being swamped by the press is for some weird reason John McCain decided to make his living off of Joe the Plumber last night. Obviously a guy who is mentioned something like 26 times by both major Presidential candidates is going to receive press attention whether it's wanted or unwanted.

This whole blame the press for everything line is tired.

Obama tried saying that over and over again, and McCain refused to accept it. I am Canadian, so I am not being partisan in saying this. Just an onlooker looking on.

When Joe the Plumber complained about Obama's tax plan, I thought he meant it would hurt him personally. He admitted he isn't making above $200K so he wouldn't have any tax increases.

He also said that the business doesn't bring in more than $250K, that's just what he was thinking about paying for the business if he bought it. So after all of that, all the talk last night about Joe the Plumber seems pointless to me.

"...I’m getting ready to buy a company that makes $250,000 to $280,000 a year,” he told Mr. Obama during an exchange that was filmed and later showed up on YouTube. “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?"

You don't think the press is biased? It seems to me they save their most dogged, vicious attacks for anyone who is conservative. Everything else is swept under the journalistic rug. Or maybe given a slap-on-the-wrist, half-hearted, third page article.

Personally, I think if anyone is to blame, it would be McCain's campaign...they should have made sure they checked the facts before McCain addressed him in the debate. However, it really doesn't matter. It doesn't take away the validity of the question, even if the circumstances were completely made up, and that is what the press IS trying to do--discredit the question itself, to divert attention from the answer.

Thank you, Abigail. You have covered all the salient points. Being that he is an American, he has a dream of succeeding in someway and having his little niche in life. If he owes, then he is singing, "I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go!"

After viewing the video clip with the exchange between Joe and Obama and listening to all the rhetoric, I still see the man concerned that someone, namely Obama, will quash his dream!

I want him to get up and try again, myself!!!

I bet the guy wishes they'd never mentioned his name last night.
Mike,
I'm surprised at you today! Of course he is a "wannabe Plumber". He does want to be a plumber! Respectfully....

MB, MikeinAWE and the liberal media are sooooo predictable.

THE FACT: OBAMA responded to what he thought was a plumber and business owner and his response was "SPREAD THE WEALTH". This is the important FACT the Mikey and and the NY Times want to ignore and divert the attention from.

Anytime BO cracks open the window to his true soul, the Obama worshipers obfuscate and change the subject.

Ayers? McCain is conducting negative politics.
Wright? Racism.
Michelle's "proud of America" statement? Family members are off-limits.
"Bitter, clinging to guns and religion" speech? GOP plants recording the fundraiser where speech was made.
ACORN connections? BO represented them years ago as a lawyer, that's all.
Voted to allow murder of babies surviving abortions? There were laws already on the books.

You can go on and on down the list, and BO and his protectors in the press cover his tail when a little bit of the truth begins to show.

Joe Plumber is NOT the issue---Obama's words ARE the issue. He has a socialist ideology, but they all know you can't win the presidency as a liberal socialist. You have to be at least in the middle or to the right.

If BO gets elected, the mask will come off quick and his first year will be more tumultuous than Bill Clinton's.

Except today, he's told the press that $250-280K is what he'd give for the business, not what he'd net in profit. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpu...e-plumber.html

Really my only point is to point out the silly turns Presidential elections like this one can take. Last night, the guy was at the center of a Presidential debate and come to find out, none of the issues debated even apply to him.

I realize that it upsets you that people making over $250K in this country would have to pay 39% income tax instead of 36%, but you supporters of the war in Iraq have to realize the consequences of your choices when you support spending $2 billiion dollars in Iraq a week.

Someone has to pay the price tag for all of your foreign policy folly, DB.
