Re: Man Falls After Receiving Spirit, Sues

I personally knew of a situation in a church I preached in where a woman fell after being prayed for by the pastor, yep she sued and never missed a service kept right on shouting. They made sure to catch her after that.

Re: Man Falls After Receiving Spirit, Sues

I dont mean to laugh at the man's plight, but I found one line in the lawsuit to be kind of amusing. His wife joins him in the lawsuit, suing for ...." loss of consortium, loss of services, and companionship"...

"loss of consortium" ,huh? oookay.

Obviously us grown folks know what that means...its a euphemism for (ahem) something else.
I just find that kind of legalese to be funny for some reason.

LOL!!! A few years ago when I took the "Understanding God and His Covenants" class at Christ Church when we had the class on laying on of hands they had the pastors come to the class that night and lay hands on everybody one by one and pray for them.

This was after lessons on the Holy Spirit, annointing, etc. Either before or after I had gone through the prayer line I was standing and watching the others go through.

The class was behing held in the Wallace Chapel which is configured with those nice padded chairs that all hook together but can be configured many different ways, removed, etc.

I was standing about 8 feet away from where Pastor Phil Goldsberry and Pastor Paul Russell were laying hands on folks when this one lady they laid hands on suddenly and without warning did the swoon!

As she was falling backwards my mind was trying to tell my legs to move quickly to try and get to her but there was no way.

As she came down the back of her head perfectly hit the thickly padded cushion of one of those chairs and broke her fall. It scared me to death!

I thought for a second that this woman was really going to hurt herself.

I was in a service as a boy and a lady preacher fell out and hit her head the blood was running someone asked the pastor (who didn't believe in women preachers) what to do? He said leave her alone if she had been in the Spirit she wouldn't have got hurt and since she wasn't maybe she will watch next time. True story.

My Grandfather told a story about when he was a kid at church and a lady fell and hit her head on an a bench and busted a chunk out of the bench but wasn't hurt at all.

When I was a teenager, we had a young man who tried to run around the church with his eyes closed! He ran into a support beam and broke his leg!

The sad thing is we had a women do the same in our spanish church, she sued and won, our insurance dropped us we got new church insurance and closed the spanish church. We still hold english services but many things have changed, the youth have to have a signed permission slip with a waiver to go on any outings. this is a sad day we live in.

People are more interested in money, and think they can get the quick buck. But the quick buck usually ends in a tragic end.

Re: Man Falls After Receiving Spirit, Sues

I was in the trinity Pentecostal church many years back, almost 20 now. The pastor prayed, and no one was there. BAM! Back of my head hit the corner of the prayer altar. Everyone thioght I had a serious injury. But, I got up and kept on shouting.
