Well I guess maybe you mean something different from "balanced life"...Im speaking spiritually...A christian life based on the word...

Not in the sense that one can go to a college and learn both bible stuff AND say computer science or psychology...that for sure is lacking.

Another generation and we'll probably see a big difference. There are already many many more young people graduating from universities and colleges than when I was in Bible School. The OA movement is more educated today than it was then.

I wish I was better educated, I'm all for people learning more and getting educated.Studying the word will teach one the difference between the vain traditions of man, and the essential traditions of God.

While I am not against higher education, I think a great deal of book learning is going to be the demise of this Apostolic generation, because of the lose of spirituality. Sorry, but many of the "old timers" of the past lamented that they had spent more time in study than they did in prayer.

I leave you with this from the late Verbal Bean. Take it or leave it.

Quote:
This is a paraphrased quote by the late Verbal Bean.

"The latter rain (latter splatter) that swept through Pentecost did great damage to many preachers and churches BUT I believe that we will see a far greater harm come in the future, while the latter-splatter was wild and foolish the coming harm will be sophisticated and extremely polished and driven by intellectual powers--this will destroy more than latter-splatter ever thought of destroying."

Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

2Ti 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

2Ti 3:14 But continue in the things that you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,

Act 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the Scriptures,

Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Act 18:24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.

It does not hurt the church to be strong in WORD just as we should be in Prayer

Act 6:3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Act 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Your point?? I am not against learning, but again, it is not the letter only that we need to learn, but the Spiritual.

1Cr 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

As in everything in life and our Christian walk balance is the key. Some people are so intellectual and in love with learning that they are of no practical worth.

Others eschew learning for a warped "super spirituality" where rather than studying to show themselves approved they think God is going to supernqaturally impart to them all knowledge they need for life.
