Re: Wanna Buy An Acoustic Guitar For The Wife

Ok, this is a good thread. I am also looking for another accoustic at the moment. I play three times a week in church and I am the lead guitar another band so I need a decent guitar.

I have played a lot of Taylors and Martins but would go for something else if the quality was better for the money.

Do the Seagulls in the $800-$1000 range have the same quality or more than the Taylors. I like the look of a Seagull and another poster mentioned that they are great guitars.

Segull guitars are not as ornate as say a Taylor nor Martin. But, as a utilitarian instrument, I really think its the best for the money. Taylor is now making some entry level instruments for around $800. Ive played a few and they sound great. They are "plain jane" instruments also. The Seagull I play in church is a Mini Jumbo with a solid cedar top. The pickup and electronics are awesome. I've been more than pleased with it and I get compliments on its sound all the time. Geesh...I wish they would give me an endorsement deal....HAHA!

Blessings

I don't care about looks except I do need to look cool for our TV broadcast so a cutaway would be nice. Really, I just want a high guality instrument with solid electronics. I don't change instruments much and the last decent guitar I bought was in 1998 so holding value is not that relevant to me either.

Have you played the S6+? Link below.
