Dan, when San Fransisco was founded there was a saloon there called the Bucket-o-blood. It was a rough and tumble place where men died on a regular basis, where, men where kidnapped and taken aboard ships where they were forced to serve for sometimes years before they ever got back to America and were able to sneek off the ship. At this bar, it was not uncommon to have fights every night....
yet people kept going to this bar night after night, year after year. it was THE place to be.
The WD can be exactly like that.
I view the dynamics of what is happening in the WD as a microcosm of what is happening in the felllowship Ferd .... it's the Ohio of the electoral college .... right now.
This sounds like a "mutiny" ... IMO ... it will be used against the fellowship .... if the TV resolution passes and give another reason to justify an exodus
There is a undercurrent to "wait and see."
On both sides.
The General Board could still decide to allow the formation even with a negative vote. For this reason, many ministers did not attend and vote.

LOL! Dan, in this you could not be more wronger (how is that for bad english).
this is the WD Dan. Not any part of the rest of the known world.
The naysayers from this site have been dead wrong about what this district would do ... so I will keep my political observations based on science rather then rhetoric until proven otherwise

I agree with you. the WD however is more of a macrocosim. all the issues are bigger and the players are more vocal.
if this were some other large district, you would have men working behind the scenes to get something done. In the WD, they get up and preach about it then send tapes to everyone concerned.
where other places play nice
in the WD, they pull out swords and shoot each other.

bro ... this can be said about Louisiana, Texas ... even the New York Metro district ... politics and influence has this type of power over some folks.
The split of the WD into two districts was not about unity or disunity or cons or whatever. The WD is just TOO large. It's over a 5 hour drive for some folks to campmeeting alone. How can you have unity when most people just never go to these meetings anymore because they are too far and now with the high costs of things it's even worse.'
Once again I am left disappointed by "leaders".
As for the unity disunity thing and cons....Most of the south would be moderate. The Cons, as it is now, are organizing their own meetings contrary to what the WD says....
Anyone really think it was the cons that voted FOR a split and not the other way around?

If practicality were the issue here... this would've been done years ago.
As for folks not participating in district functions .... this may be indicative other factors ... I wonder if non-involvement in district function is widespread throughout the fellowship ... it was a problem in the NYMD. Maybe a poll is in order ????

No, it has always been like this for years. We've been having two sunday school conventions for years because the distance is just to far. Traffic is terrible and gas is higher here than anywhere else. Ca is just too long long long a state plus the WD includes Nevada
