I was curious if the Kool-aid comment was in respect to what you knew and now do not believe, or if you were simply parroting what others say who themselves knew and now do not believe this way anymore.

I don't think I would say I have drank Kool-aid. I embraced what I see in the Scriptures as a 14 yr old. This was not what was told to me, but what I personally decided was correct. It is to me a devotion, and conviction more than anything else.

Oh, and Jim Jones started 10 miles from where I live. The Trinitarian Pentecostal church he was a part of prior to his drifting off the deep end in commune-ville still is in existence. I worked with a lady who was a part of this church, and the one JJ started in Ukiah, CA.

Emphasis on "might".
I have heard the church doubled in the 80's in America, and that after this there was a huge increase in foreign fields, including the thousands in Papua, New Guinea and Ethopia.

I do not think we are still hearing any numbers trumpeted of late.

You could have put it to boil in a pot. Just be sure that it is not a scummy pot.

My parents began taking me to a UPC church (the one Dan speaks of) since I was around 6 yrs old. Searching out the scriptures and delving into it myself and with the Holy Spirit's leading, I realized I had to purge myself from many teachings that were not lining up...so it was time to move on...and I am so thankful and do not regret it one bit...If I could do it all over again, I would do it thrice....my spiritual walk would have been stagnant had I not. What amazing grace!

I know that politics and vying for position is a fact. I know that sometimes men get into key positions because there is concerted and organized effort to see that it happens and whether the will of God is done is up for question.

However ..... having said that I still fervently and firmly believe that if it's God's plan for a man to be in a certain place or position that God can see to it that it happens. It all depends on what His will and purpose is for a man. It may not be that he rise to the pinnacles of success in an organization. All men are not created equal in terms of giftedness, charisma and ability. There are different giftings and abilities and men are more swayed by these than God and yet God it is God who gifts man after all.

And it would seem a shame after all if those giftings and talents and abilities were not recognized and appreciated by the body of Christ and utilized for the good of the body.

God is God is He not? Do we believe that or not? If God has called, then God will place and God's ultimate will and purpose will not be thwarted or destroyed or prevented.

Pharoah tried to prevent and was partially successful but in the end .... well, we see who won that particular battle.

Nope, we're not. I agree. But then again, I'm not hearing any great numbers reported by anybody or any group that we would have any confidence in or give much credibility to.

There is indeed a group growing at an alarming rate worldwide. They are strict, and they do not suffer those who do not believe as they do.

Muslims.
