No but IN THE END they might be for the very same reasons you gave Miss B.
And like she said I believe if we love God he will work with us to bring us more truth.

What reasons did I give Miss B?

Now, now, no need to be condescending. (But I agree--I wish Newman still posted. She's brilliant.) I wish she hadn't felt the need to *go into hiding.* Alas, that's a result of the GOBC which is threatened by anyone sharing an opinion that opposes the status quo--or even asking intelligent questions.
We've lost a lot of great debaters. It's a shame. I like intelligent discussion. I agree that a lot of the present discussions barely scratch the surface. I doubt it has to do with a lack of collective intelligence, and more likely that it seems like it isn't worth the effort anymore to do a lot of research and digging on any given subject. I don't even have the motivation to discuss politics to any great depth, let alone standards or doctrine.
|
There is no need for debate. We are loved with a greater love than any of us realize. Jesus didn't shed His precious blood to have it marginalized by strands of human protein. Exhaustive debates are just that---exhausting. The glorious grace of God brings joy, peace and life. I thank God for His unmerited gift!

Wow, this really surprises me about you, Miss B. You are saying that being "sincerely wrong" is not a sin???? You mean, like "ignorance is bliss"? Or "In times past, God winked at ignorance but now commands everyone to repent"?
So, I can use this to pretty much cover a multitude of sins. I don't really think you believe that.
How about this scripture - anyone who adds to or takes away from the words of this book shall have their part in the lake of fire?
|
You were saying if one teaches false doctrine he will be lost. I asked if that held as true for pre trib teachers as it does for false standards teachers.

Bro, we've been through this discussion before...
Titus
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
This is how I see it..we are zealous for good works BECAUSE we love Jesus...not because we are trying to earn salvation...
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
MTD, I've been meaning to ask you for a while now, but I keep forgetting. Anyway, here goes:
You do believe in predestination right? how do you reconcile predestination with OSNAS?

But NO ONE has ever said we do good works merely to gain salvation. One obeys Jesus because he loves him. Yet if they are not obedient you seem to be saying they will be saved anyway.
What does OSNAS mean?

Perhaps, they are not saved in the first place? cos I believe God will chastise his children if they are disobedient

I agree a multitude of tares are out there promoting themselves as Christians. So many that leave the faith were never in it.
God certainly will chasten his children. Yet he will also blot their names out of his book unless they overcome. Rev. 3:5
The reconciliation in my beliefs is always based on the whole counsel of God rightly divided. So many miss it because they base their beliefs on a "concept" instead of the WHOLE COUNSEL of scripture.
Jesus said "Many are called but few are chosen". So indeed he actually CALLS many. Yet of the many called only few will be chosen. Plenty of scripture shows one can be saved and then be cut off by Jesus for disobedience.
