Took a quick look again, my memory was a bit fuzzy. The temple prostitues were shorn or had unkept disheveled hair... but the culture of the day was to wear a veil. One of the points Paul was making was to wear the veil, even though thier hair was thier covering, wear it lest they identify themselves with the heathen priestessess who offered thier sacrifices to thier God's with shaved heads and disheveled hair... they did not wear veils. The respectable in that time did.
My point again, in case it was lost in all this... is if I were in Texas, and were concerned for my reputation, or concerned I could be mistaken for one of the polygamists, I would wear my veil, so to speak.
In other words, change it up. But there would certainly be no need to cut my hair.
