Um, good sister, Salvation, prayer and fasting are not inconvenient. It is not a matter of pride, but of principal in lots of cases. I do not need to touch a man's foot or have him touch mine in a purely symbollic gesture to demonstrate humility.
Foot washing IS uncomfortable, yes, however saying I am sorry is also as uncomfortable. I would rather commune with my brethern, submitting myself to them through my direct actions and my words, than a suggestive, and vague effort at washing someone's feet, then to hope my or their effort is all is what is needed to maybe solve a personality conflict.
It is precious to you, you draw near to the Lord by doing so? Fantastic. Some do not and it is not that sad a situation.
