God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message

We have been so contaminated by this world's doctrine of SELF....we do not like footwashing because it is so uncomfortable & so inconvenient. So is salvation, prayer, fasting, etc. We have become so proud. God help us...not trying to sound ugly but this is yet one more opportunity to draw closer to God. ...I haven't been involved in footwashing in years because some churches just do not do it any more...sad, very sad.

Um, good sister, Salvation, prayer and fasting are not inconvenient. It is not a matter of pride, but of principal in lots of cases. I do not need to touch a man's foot or have him touch mine in a purely symbollic gesture to demonstrate humility.

Foot washing IS uncomfortable, yes, however saying I am sorry is also as uncomfortable. I would rather commune with my brethern, submitting myself to them through my direct actions and my words, than a suggestive, and vague effort at washing someone's feet, then to hope my or their effort is all is what is needed to maybe solve a personality conflict.

It is precious to you, you draw near to the Lord by doing so? Fantastic. Some do not and it is not that sad a situation.

Have you literally wiped dust off your feet as a testimony to those who reject you? Jesus did say to do that.

Does that mean to wipe your feet on the carpet of your enemy?
